The 2023 World Athletics is one of the biggest events of the year. This 19th edition of championship events is happening in Budapest, Hungary, with more than 2,000 of the world’s best athletes. The competition began on 19th August and will go on till 27th August 2023. Along with world champions like Noah Lyles, Sha’Carri Richardson, and Shelly-Ann Fraser Pryce, some new faces were also seen showing off their magnificent skills.

On 24th August 2023, the semifinals took place for the men’s category. With some great athletes, a British track and field star also participated and flaunted his skills. After securing great scores in the semifinals, the athlete secured a place in the finals. He became a little emotional and gave credit to his mother for helping him get there.

The British track and field superstar gives a heartwarming shout-out to his mother

The 21-year-old track and field athlete based in England, Ben Pattinson, is well known for his 800m distance. The athlete participated in the World Athletics 2023, and two days ago, he secured third place in the semifinals in the men’s category of 800 meters. With a time set of 1:44.23, he made one of the greatest achievements of his career. After securing his place in the finals, he spoke with the media and expressed his gratitude. The video was posted by Athletics Weekly, a twitter handle which shows Pattinson thanking his mom.

The star said, “Shoutout to my mum who’s driven me to Heathrow about a hundred times this year, bless her.” He added, “She’s been a hero.” He went on to express gratitude to his mum for all the work she put in to support him.

He also credited his dad. Pattinson was delighted to be in the place competing against great athletes and acknowledged every bit of his journey. Now, apart from Ben Pattinson, who else is competing in the championship?

The 2023 World Athletics in men’s category

While Ben Pattinson finished in third position with a time set of 1:44.23, the Algerian track and field star, Slimane Moula, held the first position with 1:43.93 but could not secure his place in the finals. The second position was secured by Botswana’s 24-year-old sprinter, 1:44.14. He also could not secure a place in the finals. Then Pattinson was followed by Mateuz BorKowski, Mohamed Attaoui, Benjamin Robert, Abdelati EL Guesse, and Joseph Deng. Among the 8 athletes in the race, Ben Pattinson has been selected for his top-notch performance throughout the championship.

Ben Pattinson expressed his emotions about experiencing the world championship. He said, “was a crazy experience.” After securing so much recognition, fans hope that the British track and field star can achieve victory and make his nation proud.
