Michael Phelps welcomes the newest Ravens’ member
There is a lot of expectation for Derrick Henry’s impact on the Ravens’ offense following the 2023 season. He tied for second place in the NFL with 1,538 running yards and earlier for tying 13 touchdowns in 2022. Unquestionably, Henry is a favorite among Baltimore sports fans, and who more thrilled to welcome him than Michael Phelps himself who re-shared an ESPN Instagram post on his story of the news with the caption, “Welcome to Baltimore @ravens.”

Henry was a free agent for a while. Many believe it was longer than anyone expected, given his impressive ten signed contracts during the NFL’s early negotiation period. For now, his two-year contract is valued at $16 million while Henry has a nine million dollar guarantee for the first year reports Schefter, with a potential value of $20 million. King Henry is placed with the team’s current ‘Most Valuable Player’, Lamar Jackson, in this switch. Under the ESPN post, comments are already flooding with someone saying, “I’m trading in my Jersey right now for a Ravens.”

As the Ravens strive for postseason success in 2024 and beyond, Henry’s influence—most notably as a catalyst during Alabama’s national championship win in 2015 when he won the Heisman Trophy—is anticipated to double up Lamar Jackson’s performance.
