The 25-year-old Tara David Woodhall is the first Texas Longhorn athlete to qualify for two Olympic Games. The 2023 World Championships silver medalist dished out a stellar 7.00 score at last month’s US Team Trial in Eugene, Oregon to secure her ticket to Paris. While her feat is justifiably impressive, many believe it’s the intimate bond she shares with her husband and a Paralympian Hunter Woodhall, that has helped Tara to find the extra motivation to push herself with the big prize looming overhead.

Tara and Hunter met each other at a track meet in high school. Since then, Hunter has never been too far away whenever Tara gets on the mark to add another feat to her illustrious resume. As the track and field power couple gears up to represent the USA at the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris in a few weeks’ time, let’s take a look back at how Hunter has been a pillar for Tara’s dreams.

How long has Tara Davis been married to Hunter Woodhall?

Despite having known each other for a considerably long time, Tara and Hunter tied the knot only in 2022. The two exchanged their vows at D’Vine Grace Vineyard in McKinney, Texas, both at the age of 23. While planning for their wedding was obviously tough work, their shared passion for sports dictated their post-wedding life. Their commitments to their respective squads and individual endeavors made Hunter and Tara settle for two small trips after their marriage instead of going for a full-blown honeymoon.

While both the athletes confess to being “super competitive” while training together, it’s possibly this kind of mental support from each other that helps both of them to keep their heads in the game.

The perfect match: How Hunter Woodhall and Tara Davis complete each other

Tara’s preparations for the 2024 Olympics have been vigorous, to say the least. From winning gold at the World Indoor Championships to recording the best long jump of her career so far, Davis-Woodhall has made it clear that she will be flying to Paris with eyes set on the golden prize. And during all this time, Hunter has been a silent cheerleader, standing fast in his wife’s corner. Just ahead of the Team Trials, Hunter took to social media to note how Tara has her head buried in work, going all out to make sure her opponents don’t take her for an easy target at the Olympic Games. “She’s deep in the cycle right now. So everything just hurts. It’s that part of the season,” Hunter wrote in his social media post.

On the other hand, Tara was among the first people to congratulate her hubby dearest when he set a new American record in the T62 100m race at the 2024 U.S. Paralympics Track & Field National Championships in March this year. “We’re always cheering on one another,” Hunter said in a recent interview with Team USA.

On the other hand, Tara and Hunter have always been super public about their dating relationship. “I definitely don’t think either of us would be at the level we’re at without the level of support that we provide for each other, as well as the team that surrounds us,” Hunter revealed, as Tara thinks their relationship could act like a “reality check” for their fans.

With so much support and vehement cheering from their biggest fans, it remains to be seen if Tara and Hunter truly have hope of finally adding the elusive Olympic hardware to their respective cupboards.
