The International Federation for Equestrian Sports or the FEI has been a welcoming ground to a multitude of equestrian enthusiasts. Marking its beginning back in 1921, the organization has grown to introduce numerous contests and athletes alike. With 6 disciplines under its jurisdiction, FEI has been an umbrella for the sport; honoring and recognizing hundreds of its athletes.

The 2023 season has been on the brink of conclusion and the feats of equestrians through it all have embraced excellence. In the act of applauding the same, the FEI was back with a flourish with its FEI Awards 2023; celebrating international and homegrown winners in Mexico City. Following along, Mimi Gochman, who took home the coveted Rising Star title, had a special person to thank for the unwavering support and inspiration.

Gochman directs gratitude toward her cheerleader

On the evening of the 21st of November, the FEI hosted the 2023 Awards to honor some of the growing names in the industry. As Mimi Gochman won the Longines Rising Star award, her mother, Becky, took to her Instagram story to congratulate the equestrian. “Congratulation @Mimi. Gochman on this International Riding Award,” she captioned. In return, Mimi penned a heartfelt note for the inspiration behind her growth. “huge thank you to my mom, who not only inspired my love of riding, but continues to support and cheer me on always.

The FEI presents the Rising Star Award to an athlete aged 14-21, who demonstrates outstanding sporting talent and commitment. Mimi Gochman, with all her accomplishments, fit right in with the intention. “I am proud of myself. I am very, very grateful for my team and very, very happy to be here.” She further added, “It’s amazing that FEI can honor younger riders and kind of inspire us to keep moving and keep working,” Gochman remarked after her win.

Mimi Gochman’s equestrian brilliance

Mimi Gochman, whose mother is a competitive rider, got the 19-year-old into riding at a very young age. Following in her mother’s footsteps, Gochman revealed to have joined the industry with rapid strides. However, come 2023, the youngster stood to make her international debut thrice with senior FEI Jumping Nations Cup? team appearances. Keeping up, Mimi placed 4th individually in the FEI Jumping U25 Rankings.

Interestingly, that isn’t all. The 19-year-old fetched top 3 spots at several CSI5* level competitions. Apart from her show jumping interest, Gochman also hopes to remain educated in other disciplines and wishes to try high-level dressage. As of now, she is focusing on 2024 Paris entry whilst pursuing a degree at USA?s Ivy League school Brown University.
