Just before the 3 pm trade deadline on 3rd March, NHL fans got a big surprise. In a rare move, Nick Ritchie and Brett Ritchie were swapped by Calgary Flames and Arizona Coyotes. The Calgary Flames general manager Brad Treliving disclosed the brothers’ amusing reaction to this deal.

With this, Treliving also gave a press conference, informing fans about this deal. Not to be left behind, the Arizona Coyotes also posted a Twitter post, telling fans how Nick Ritchie’s trade was part of a 4-player deal. Who were the other ice hockey two players in this deal and how did the brothers react to their trade?

All details of this massive deal and the brothers’ reactions are now finally disclosed 

The Arizona Coyotes stated that they have traded Nick Ritchie and Troy Stecher to the Calgary Flames in return for Brett Ritchie and Connor Mackey. It’s interesting that while both the brothers play at forward positions, this trade will send them in different directions. While Brett Ritchie will go to Phoenix’s desert terrain, Nick Ritchie will have to get used to Calgary’s cold weather. 

Later, Calgary Flames general manager Brad Treliving revealed that the brothers found this trade hilarious. “I think they kind of got leaked out so they were laughing by the time I called them”, Treliving stated.

Continuing, Treliving said that this trade could give Brett an opportunity with the Arizona Coyotes. Further, he admitted,  “It’s a little unique and I had a chuckle with both of them while talking.” This was not the only trade that surprised NHL fans. The Vancouver Canuck team’s latest trade left thousands of fans disheartened.

The Vancouver Canucks team traded their captain Bo Horvat to the New York Islanders. Sharing the update with fans in a recent Twitter post, the Canucks thanked Horvat for his contribution to the team. 

Further, Vancouver Canucks praised Horvat’s leadership and his growth in the team. Continuing, the Vancouver Canucks gave him best wishes for his new beginning in New York. This farewell left several fans emotional as Horvat had played for the Vancouver Canucks for nine seasons.
