Sean Strickland never fails to make the headlines, even when he is not fighting. The latest case involving the 34-year-old appears to have landed him smack dab in the middle of a heated feud with Derek Moneyberg. Who’s that? As Ariel Helawani puts it, “He’s someone that you may see quite often on social media, on YouTube, on Instagram, but not really sort of process who exactly this dude is.”

“He’s like an online wealth coach, that’s how he makes his money, and he appears to have a lot of it. And then he goes out there and hires guys like Jake Shields, Glover [Teixeira]…dudes that are very high-level mixed martial artists, and he trains with them,” Helwani added. But you must be wondering what that has to do with Sean Strickland? Well, the former UFC middleweight champion recently ran into Moneyberg, and the issues began!

Sean Strickland slams Derek Moneyberg

After running into him in person, Strickland launched a scathing attack on Derek Moneyberg. True to his outspoken reputation, Sean Strickland recorded a video with Moneyberg still in the background, where he accused the controversial figure of exploiting fighters and pushing dishonest practices.

“This man takes advantage of low-paid UFC fighters who are great men, who are just trying to make their mortgage and live a life… And he takes advantage of these men and he uses their platform to peddle financial scams, and he sues people, and what he does is so dishonest and so scummy…” ‘Tarzan’ said.

Moneyberg already had a bad reputation in the BJJ community after receiving a black belt in just three and a half years, which is far quicker than most practitioners. This promotion got people talking, as many pointed out that Moneyberg has never competed, and no sparring footage of him exists. Gordon Ryan, however, defended the promotion.

“If he had to compete against an average black belt… he’d probably beat him up to be honest.” But BJJ accomplishments aside, Moneyberg is taking legal action against Strickland.

Moneyberg claims Strickland has been spreading lies

Since the incident, Moneyberg has claimed that Strickland has been spreading lies about him, so his taking legal action against him. “I’ve informed him, and others have informed him, that he is maliciously spreading lies and false information about me and my business. He has had numerous opportunities to stop and apologize. He continues to spread lies, however, so now we will go to court, and Sean will reimburse me for the damages he has created,” Moneyberg wrote on X.

In response, Strickland quickly provided a retort. “Well, I’ll tell you what, buddy…. when you sue me and we call in Jake Shields and in a room full a people we put him in a deposition where he said ‘he’s good but I mean he paid me over half a million’ how do you think I know you exist?! Fighters who you paid to peddle your BS sent me your page. These are guys you paid, lol… and that being said, you’re in Vegas all the time. Roll through, sign a waiver.”
