Andrew Martin Dober, popularly known as Drew Dober has seldom failed to impress the fight fans with his performance in the Octagon. Starting his career in mixed martial arts back in 2009, the lightweight fighter traversed the realm of Bellator MMA and Titan Fighting Championship, before finally landing in the UFC. Running on a professional MMA record of 27 victories and 13 losses, the American mixed martial artist is currently on a one-fight losing streak. However, he doesn’t fail to heighten the fans’ entropy with his presence in the sport. Without a doubt, his fighting prowess is greatly enhanced by his family’s presence.

Meet Hollis Casey, Drew Dober’s wife

Dober is married to Denver native, Hollis Casey. The fighter proposed to Casey back in November 2020 and the couple soon tied the knot. The duo celebrated their anniversary on August 14. The couple has been together for about five years now. But how did they meet?

In an interview with Outside the Cage, Casey revealed that she met Dober online. The fighter was already a part of the UFC back when he decided to strike up a conversation with Casey and slid into her DMs. Regardless, Casey ghosted him because she thought that Dober was so full of himself. But as the conversation proceeded, she realized how sweet and polite the lightweight was. And when they met, sparks flew and the duo couldn’t help themselves from falling in love with each other. “It was instant chemistry,” Casey confirmed in the interview.

Casey, as a professional, has quite a diverse background. She has ventured into the domains of sales, nursing, fundraising, and photography. She was the Director of Sales at Aspen Baking Co., Denver, from 2014 to 2020. She also took on the role of health insurance associate at HCR ManorCare and is a certified nursing assistant. Casey helped in the fundraising campaign for the Alumni Association at the University of Northern Colorado, as well. Without a doubt, her professional records are nothing short of impressive. The couple welcomed a daughter back in 2023. And there was a special moment at UFC Vegas 80 that got Dober’s daughter unprecedented fame. Dober fought and defeated Ricky Glenn at UFC Vegas 80, and showcased a performance that greatly impressed the fighting community. In just 2 minutes and 36 seconds, Dober knocked Glenn out and secured a KO victory within the very first round. But it was during the Octagon interview that the audience was in awe. Talking to Daniel Cormier, the MMA professional sent forth a shoutout to his little baby.

Dober confessed, “It’s such a beautiful honor to be able to do this in front of my daughter and I know she’s not gonna care when she’s old enough, I would be old and retired, and then I’m gonna bore her. Oh my God!” As the camera focused on Casey and their daughter, he said, “What a beautiful little baby! Looks just like me, though. It’s such a beautiful honor and I just cherish every single moment I’m in here.”

Drew Dober hides daughter’s name inspiration from wife

As Dober was getting checked before stepping onto the Octagon at UFC Vegas 80, Megan Olivi revealed something shocking about Dober’s daughter. The lightweight contender was an avid fan of the video game ‘Mortal Kombat’. And if you know about the fighting game, you must know about the character, Sonia. Yes, that’s the inspiration for Dober’s daughter’s name. 

Olivi said, “This is just the best. I died when he told us this. He named his daughter Sonia. That’s a Mortal Kombat character. But he did not tell his wife that was the reference of the name and where it came from until after the birth certificate was signed.” Crazy story, right? Now, let’s shine some light on the lightweight’s early life. 

About Dober’s early life

Dober was born on 19 October 1988 in Nebraska. He grew up in a family of 3, which included his single mother and a half-sibling. And his father? He reportedly got to meet him only after he was 18. But the details of their relationship are still a mystery. Nevertheless, the Nebraska-born fighter found his love for martial arts when he was just 14 years old. His training began with Muay Thai, and he even claimed the Amateur National Championship title twice. On top of that, he was a wrestler in high school. And that became the base for building the fighter that he is today. 

Now, Dober is set to face Manuel Torres at the co-main event of UFC on ESPN 64, in Mexico City. The 36-year-old lightweight will step into the Octagon on 29 March 2025 with a 2-fight losing streak on his professional MMA record. No doubt, he’d give it his all to try and claim the win over Torres. Needless to say, Casey and Sonia would be the loudest supporters of Dober at the event.
