And finally, it’s here! After almost two years of waiting, Jo͏n Jones is set to make a highly anticipated comeback inside the ring, when he clashes against former heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic at the UFC 309 on November 16. With the bout being postponed from November last year—with Jones suffering a pectoral tendon tear and requiring surgery—this is expected to be the duo’s last rodeo. And as expected, both Jones and Miocic will be looking at some high piles of cash after the event’s conclusion. But before we get into those specifics…

Notably, Jones is one of the highest paid UFC fighters. While Conor McGregor sitting on to with $39.3 million in total earnings, followed by Khabib Nurmagomedov at $22.9 million, Jones is currently 10th on the list with a steep $10.9 million in total compensation, according to GQ Australia. Miocic, on the other hand, debuts at 13th on that list with $9.4 million. But that’s not all.

As per a UFC antitrust lawsuit (that alleged how Dana White-owned promotion company Zuffa used improper strategies to monopolize the MMA fighter services) document that surfaced last year, Jones was reportedly paid $2.2 million (vs Rashad Adams at the UFC 145 in 2012), $1.5 million (vs Vitor Belford at the UFC 152 that same year). Bones’ highest payday came against Daniel Cormier at the UFC 214, at $3.6 million, with the latter taking home $1.4 million.

Just last year, Jones also signed a new eight-fight deal with the MMA promotion which, according to his representative and former boxing promoter Richard Schaefer, made Jon Jones “probably the second highest ever next to Conor McGregor”. “I think UFC realizes that Jon Jones is the GOAT. He is a generational talent, so they were very much interested and very open to work with us and come to the conclusion of putting together a fair deal, which we did here,” Schaefer further said.

According to Supreme Fitness, Jones is projected to make around a handsome $15 million for this fight, which would mark the biggest payday of his storied career. However, this eye-popping figure might be an overestimate. Some reports state the 37-year-old will take home a guaranteed pay of $2 million, while others say somewhere north of $10 million, if we combine PPV (pay-per-view) shares, and performance bonuses, considering the fight surpassed 800,000 PPV buys.
