The UFC president Dana White‘s declaration of putting ‘Chaos’ next in line for coveted UFC gold didn’t go down well with fans and fighters alike. While the champion Leon Edwards sought the justification for such an endowment, another UFC fighter joined the bandwagon and voiced his apprehensions. Notably, Gilbert Burns, who squares off against Jorge Masvidal at UFC 287, questioned the decision of the promotion. Further, the Brazilian specified his intent to put doubt in everyone’s mind as he proclaims to finish ‘Gamebred’, thus throwing his name in the mix for the title contender.

The 36-year-old theorized a dominating win against his opponent in Miami might propel him ahead of Covington. In addition, he spelled out his motive to grab a title shot riding on the spectacle he intends to put on.

Durinho, in a conversation with MMA Junkie, mentioned that the Clovis native sat down for a year as his fights against Khamzat Chimaev and Shavkat Rakhmonov didn’t materialize.

Thus, he said, “Now that guy comes out of nowhere and steps in. Colby is smart, but I don’t know why the UFC is giving the opportunity to the guy, but it is what it is. I hope that doesn’t happen.”
The #5 ranked welterweight also hoped to finish Masvidal in the presence of Dana White, Leon Edwards, and Colby Covington. Furthermore, he stated, “I will put on a clinic against this guy and try to get a title shot. But I’m not going to cry about it if they give it to Colby.”
Following this, the 21-5 record holder expressed that he wanted a clear path to the title, unlike Covington.

Burns voiced his desire to fight anyone in the future, as he did in the past as well. This was significantly antithetical to Covington’s recent record.
