UFC PPVs resume next weekend and what a card we have to kick off 2025!

January 18, Saturday at the Inuit Dome Stadium lightweight champion Islam Makhachev will butt heads with the number one contender, Arman Tsarukyan. The first card of 2025 is so impressively stacked that some fans even compare it to the marquee UFC 300. However, did Dana White do justice to the heavily stacked card with the new promo?

The promo starts with Islam Makhachev somewhere in the mountains and then the frame shifts to his fighting highlights against Charles Oliveira and Alexander Volkanovski. As Joe Rogan announces that Makhachev is the best lightweight fighter on Earth, the frame shifts to Arman Tsarukyan. The lightweight contender’s highlights over the likes of Beneil Dariush and his amazing performance against submission king Charles Oliveira follow. The promo also has some time left for the co-main event that sells off a new Georgia vs. Dagestan rivalry between bantamweight champion Merab Dvalishvili and Umar Nurmagomedov.

After weeks without any UFC events, the MMA community is set to be treated to arguably the biggest card of the year (so far)—and it’s just the beginning. Two titles will be on the line, with both the bantamweight and lightweight belts being defended. The Dagestanis are in the mood to claim them both.

The bantamweight champion of the world, Merab Dvalishvili, will defend his 135-lb title against the undefeated Umar Nurmagomedov, who comes from a family of undefeated fighters. The momentum of the clash will decide the fate of the bantamweight division, as both wrestling-heavy fighters have been calling out to each other for a fierce battle within the Octagon.

Lastly, the promo highlighted the light-heavyweight clash between two former champions, Jiri Prochazka and Jamahal Hill. The winner will cement his status as the next title contender. The promo included all of the aspects of the fighting but the MMA world believes that UFC needs to work better in terms of advertising their fights as they are way behind Boxing.

Did Dana White's promo do justice to UFC 311's epic lineup, or did it fall flat?

Dana White’s UFC 311 promo gets a divided response from the fans

The UFC 311 card is stacked with some of the most anticipated fights, featuring matchups such as Islam Makhachev vs. Arman Tsarukyan, Merab Dvalishvili vs. Umar Nurmagomedov, and Beneil Dariush vs. Renato Moicano. MMA fans are in awe, unable to believe that this is the first card of the year, “This is an insane card to start the year.”

The initial Artur Beterbiev vs. Dimitry Bivol boxing match witnessed an amazing promo as both of the fighters dressed up as ancient warriors, it was one of the reasons the viewership of that match was so high. Interestingly, the UFC used to do promos like that, however, they stopped it after some time but the fans are arguing that it’s the need of the hour right now, “These promos are so a– lmao A bivol vs beterbiev style promo wouldve been so cool for this. Always the same fight clips with Joe rogan in the background with some ‘All American’ (tv show) ass music. W card tho”

Furthermore, another appears to be mesmerized by the card, “Such a sick card as a year opener”, some of the fights within the cards are: Kevin Holland vs. Reiner De Ridder, Johnny Walker vs. Bogdan Guskov, Payton Talbott vs. Raoni Barcelos, Jailton Almeida vs. Serghei Spivac.

Another fan highlighted a mistake in the promo, “The promo messed up on the date It said Jan 19.” A fan highlighted that Islam Makhachev would emerge victorious in the battle considering the fact that he is the most all-rounded fighter within the promotion and he has already beat the Armenian in their initial clash, “islam already beat his armenian ass before and tsarukyan got outwrestled and beat by gamrot.” However, it must be noted that that initial fight was Tsarukyan’s debut fight within the promotion and the Armenian fighter has changed too much over the years.
