UFC’s No. 14-ranked heavyweight, Valter Walker, has landed in serious trouble. For a fighter nicknamed ‘The Clean Monster,’ Walker’s Thursday in Miami was anything but, culminating in a surprising arrest. It’s now jeopardized his special grappling match on Friday at Karate Combat 59 in Miami with Zion Clark, the wrestling phenom born without legs. Interestingly, the news of Walker’s arrest comes after the pair got into a scuffle during their final face-off.

An update was posted on Walker’s official Instagram account. “We inform you that the athlete Valter Walker was detained by Miami authorities this Thursday (02/12) at 2:45 PM Miami time,” the post read. “Consequently, his fight scheduled for tomorrow remains pending his release from custody.” The post was accompanied by images showing Walker being handcuffed by police and later sitting restrained in a detention area.

“We are currently seeking Miami-based lawyers for immediate legal support,” the post continued. “If you are or know a professional in the area, please contact us urgently via Direct Message (DM).” However, it’s currently unclear what Walker is being charged with or the specific reason behind his arrest.

Coming back to the scuffle, Walker mocked Clark during their face-off, prompting Clark to grab the Brazilian by the hand and pull him to the ground. The American then locked Walker in a front headlock before delivering punches to his body. Security quickly stepped in and separated the pair.

Walker, while restrained, tried to kick the American but failed. “Everybody thinks I’m gonna take it easy on him because he has no legs. I will smash this motherf—,” Walker declared following the incident. Regardless, Walker’s Instagram has since provided further updates about the Brazilian’s arrest and whether he will be able to fight Clark.

UFC fighter Valter Walker is expected to be released soon

According to a follow-up post on Walker’s Instagram, he is currently held at the Miami-Dade County Pretrial Detention Center. “We hereby inform that UFC athlete Valter Walker is currently in custody at the Pretrial Detention Center,” the ‘official statement’ read. “His release is scheduled for tomorrow morning, following the payment of bail as determined by the competent authorities.”

The bail amount wasn’t revealed in the post, but it claimed a “professional colleague” will be providing the funds for Walker’s release on bail. “Valter Walker’s management and legal team are closely monitoring all legal proceedings to ensure his prompt release and full compliance with judicial requirements,” the statement concluded. Notably, after Friday’s match, Valter Walker is set to face UFC veteran Marcin Tybura. 

The pair will face each other in a heavyweight bout on March 28 at UFC Seattle. As more details emerge about Valter Walker’s arrest, the specific reason behind it will likely be revealed to the public. For now, however, it remains a matter of speculation.
