Paddy Pimblett massacred Michael Chandler at UFC 314 with a massive TKO to gain a 7th back-to-back win. Chandler didn’t just lose. He suffered a heartbreak and a horror cut in front of a massive audience, including the likes of Donald Trump and Elon Musk, who witnessed his defeat octagon-side. This was his third straight defeat in UFC 314’s co-main event that happened in Miami in front of a packed crowd at the Kaseya Center. Not only did he lose, but after locking horns with Pimblett, he also cost double champ, Conor McGregor, $500,000 in losses as the latter had high hopes he would win. The Irish man, in a video ahead of the UFC-314, even admitted, “The fight I’m interested in is Michael Chandler vs Paddy Pimblett. And I’m going with Michael Chandler to win, and win by KO. Though Paddy has improved in his last few outings, I still fancy Chandler to do it. Let’s go, boys.”

What happened in the ring was quite the opposite of what Conor had bet on. But was it only ‘The Baddy’s’ hard work, or did he get advice from others? Well, teamwork makes the dream work, as they say. Pimblett received golden advice from one of the best fighters from Bellator, Patricio Pitbull Freire. ‘Pitbull,’ who had defeated Chandler in Bellator.  Chandler lost his lightweight title in a spectacular upset to ‘Pitbull’, who had given a massive KO in just 61 seconds in the first round. The Brazilian advised the Scouser on how to defeat the former Bellator champ.

While speaking in the post-fight presser, Pimblett said, “ I mean it’s what I channeled, but the thing was he couldn’t get near me to do what he did to Patricio, where he and Patricio were similar sizes, he couldn’t get near me to do it. But I think it did land  one right hand over the top.” He also added, “Know where he goes, like jabbing the body. It was the right hand over the top, and bringing it down, I think I might have landed one of them in the fight.”

He added that since Chandler and Patricio are of a similar height, where ‘Pitbull’ is 5’6″ and Chandler stands at 5’8″, it was easier for the Brazilian to tackle the jabs against ‘Iron’. Pimblett did not let Chandler close the distance and use the jab. Pimblett mentioned the tips from ‘Pitbull’ before as well while speaking to The Action Network. He said, “I was speaking to Pitbull, someone who knocked Chandler out in the first round, and he was giving me a few tips on how to beat him also.”  However, now that he has the tips on fighting explosive combatants, who does he have next on his radar?

Paddy Pimblett is ready to snatch the lightweight gold, calling out Islam Makhachev during his post-fight interview and declaring,  “I want that world title.” Apart from that, the Englishman included other fighters, saying, “Anyone in the top four, top five (is who I want next). I want that world title. … I want Dustin (Poirier), Justin (Gaethje), Charles (Oliveira), or the little posh boy Arman (Tsarukyan) – any of them four.”

However, Ilia Topuria, who recently went to the lightweight division after winning the featherweight belt, was not there on Pimblett’s list. During the post-fight presser, he said that he would be more than happy to face ‘La Leyenda’, but the thing is, he forgot all about him. He said, stirring a new feud, “To be honest, I forgot about him. I forgot all about him, or I would have mentioned him in the cage, you know what I mean. I don’t call the man ‘Sanitizer Boy’ anymore, he’s now ‘El Chorizo’, but as I say, I literally forgot all about him. That’s how irrelevant he is.” So, who will the Englishman get for his next bout?
