On a fine Monday morning in April 2023, Fox News Media CEO Suzanne Scott called Tucker Carlson to deliver news that would not only shatter their TRP ratings but also shake the entire media world. In a corporate tone, Scott said, “We’re taking you off the air.” Shocked by her words, Carlson couldn’t fathom what had just happened. He was not only at the top of Fox News but also a dominant force in digital media. Well, approximately two years have passed since that incident, and Carlson is much bigger now than his Fox days and Joe Rogan understands it a bit too well.
To give you a perspective on how big of a decision it was for Fox News Media to lay Tucker Carlson off, imagine this, it was like somebody canceling Stranger Things from Netflix ahead of their last season or rescheduling the Eagles vs. Chiefs final. Since his departure, Tucker Carlson started his own podcasting channel as well as became a dominant force in the digital world again, but his time was on his own.
At the JRE Fight Companion – on February 8, 2025, Brendan Schaub touched on the topic of Carlson as he stated that the former Fox employee has become a big star on his own, to which Joe Rogan chimed in to state that he was the only man who kept Fox Media going, “Towards the end of his run, he was like the only guy on the news talking about real s—.”

He further added, “And you know, talking about things that were very controversial and people did not want him talking about. That’s why they fired him, right? They fired him when he was at the top. That’s what’s crazy—he was the number one guy on Fox. That was the Dominion, though. But it was a lot of different things. There were multiple different—I mean, no one was happy.”
