Henry Cejudo predicts that Jon Jones will finish Ciryl Gane at UFC 285. Moreover, the former UFC double division champion thinks that the fight will end within the first three rounds. Cejudo is helping Jones prepare for the title fight, so his opinion carries weight although it’s not clear of bias.

On the other hand, Gane has won against the likes of Tai Tuivasa and Derrick Lewis. This has made him the #1 contender in the UFC heavyweight division. Apart from losing to Francis Ngannou, he has not lost to anyone in his professional MMA career.

However, Cejudo’s verdict has not found many supporters among the fans. Jones is returning to the octagon after a hiatus of almost three years. Furthermore, ‘Bones’ has not finished any of his opponents since his TKO win over Alexander Gustafsson in 2018. This has raised doubts about his ability to win this fight.

Fans respond to Cejudo’s confidence in Jones

Fans are not aligning with Cejudo’s verdict. Due to Jones’s recent octagon inactivity, fans believe that the American will suffer from ring rust. Here’s what the fans had to say:

A fan reminds: “Jones has 2 finishes in like 10 years and he pissed hot for both of them

One fan said: “Don’t understand why people think Jones, who has never fought at heavyweight, has had issues with guys who he can’t impose his size and reach on, and hasn’t fought in three years, is going to steamroll Ciryl Gane, like Gane is just some b*m.

Another fan said: “Maybe I’m tripping but Jon did NOT look great in his last 2 outings and has been out 3 years. I’m not expecting him to be some killer in there. If he wins it’ll be a close decision…

Meanwhile, one fan points out: “Couldn’t finish Santos with a torn ACL , MCL and LCL in both knees .

Whilst a fan said: “He’s been incredibly wrong more than he’s right when it comes to his guys fighting for titles. Needless to say I don’t believe anything Cejudo ever says.

Some fan backs Gane to get a finish: “I’m a lot more confident in Gane getting a finish than Jones.

A fan hopes for ‘vintage Jones’: “I hope vintage Jones comes back.. Rewatched his fight with Shogun and the unpredictability he showed in that fight is what made him one of the best.”

One fan backs Jones: “I believe he beats Ciryl Gane, he’s in the top three, maybe top two,” Cejudo said. “If he stops Ciryl Gane, Jon Jones should and will always remain ranked No. 1. Why do I say that? Because of his resume.”

Cejudo is aware of the dangers Gane possesses. Moreover, he has even warned Jones about it.

Cejudo’s warning to Jon Jones about Gane

Ciryl Gane’s performance in his recent fight against Tai Tuivasa at UFC Fight Night 209 certainly impressed Cejudo. He recognized that Gane is a real threat to everyone in the division and even texted Jon Jones to warn him about him. Cejudo advised Jones to watch out for Gane’s skills, which he believes are formidable.
