Nate Diaz just lit the rumor mill on fire! The Stockton veteran recently posted on Instagram, “Fight accepted, you’re dead,” under photos from his first boxing fight with Jake Paul, and social feeds immediately blew up. Signs point to a second act, but at the time of writing, nothing is official.
As per reports, Paul’s planned showdown with Gervonta Davis fell apart amid legal turmoil, and promoters have scrambled for replacements. Diaz emerged as an early, willing option. But will Netflix and Most Valuable Promotions actually make it real? And more importantly, what does Nate saying “fight accepted” do to the dream fans are calling for: a Diaz vs. Conor McGregor trilogy?
Their first Paul-Diaz boxing match in August 2023 ended in a lop-sided decision for Paul (98–91, 98–91, 97–92). Diaz blamed an injured shoulder and a four-week bender beforehand for that loss. Now he may be hungrier for drama, and is clearly willing to step in on short notice yet again. Meanwhile, Paul needs an opponent who sells tickets. The Stockton legend indeed sells.

But history complicates the hype as fans still whisper about McGregor. Diaz himself never stopped wanting McGregor back. Remember his words on “Out Cold” a while ago? He said, “If I could fight anybody right now, I would fight – with all due respect to them, if Conor McGregor came back and did some f***** sh**, Conor McGregor. There ain’t nobody else to fight really right now. I would like for him to come back and just impress everybody first.”

Many fans saw the first Diaz-Paul bout as unsatisfying. Some called it a payday mismatch. Others faulted the UFC veteran’s preparation. That fuels a split reaction now. Some want the rematch purely for spectacle and to settle unfinished business, and there are others who consider McGregor the real prize. If Diaz boxes ‘The Problem Child’ again and looks sharper, does that force Conor McGregor to come back? Or will it simply feed the influencer-boxing cycle and delay a true return to MMA trilogies? Here’s a look at what the netizens had to say!

Fans are more interested in Nate Diaz’s trilogy against Conor McGregor instead of the Jake Paul rematch
One fan wrote, “What we all really want to see is Diaz vs McGregor 3.” This captures the dominant fantasy. Diaz vs. McGregor I was an upset; II was a majority decision. Together, those fights made MMA history were hefty paydays for UFC. As such, many fans argue that the trilogy sells bigger than the Paul rematch with higher stakes, legacy implications, and rightful closure. The commercial math backs it. Trilogy fights historically spike revenue, and both names still carry mainstream pull!
Someone else chimed in with, “Nah, I rather see @natediaz209 vs @thenotoriousmma in @bareknuckle fc.” It looks like some want an old-school, brutal finish. With McGregor’s role as the co-owner and hype man for the BKFC, it does make sense for the two to step into the ring and settle it without gloves. What do you think?

Another fan wrote, “We all know the results… And everyone will cry… Jake will win… put your bets on…” Pessimists point to scores from 2023 and the reality of boxing specificity. Jake Paul’s youth, volume, and boxing focus make him a tough opponent, and this reaction channels the room-temperature skepticism: rematches rarely flip outcomes unless preparation radically changes.
Someone else had a harsher take on the situation as they pointed out, “Joke of a fight last time he looked drunk and swung like 5 times the whole fight. This fight will be even worse than the first.” This savage critique nails the reputational risk. For many, Nate Diaz’s first showing damaged his boxing credibility. Could a rematch damage it even further, turning fans off and making McGregor trilogy dreams harder to sell?
One fan claimed, “honestly, them both right now would be a perfect trilogy fight”, and they might not be too far off the mark. McGregor’s UFC return has found new life after the announcement of the White House card next year. Diaz is also open to returning to the Octagon only if the Irishman is the one standing across from him. The promotion can and should capitalize on this alignment of the stars!
The first two chapters delivered shock, drama, tears, and triumph. No influencer boxing storyline can recreate that energy, and the fans know it. At the same time, Nate Diaz stepping up when others declined reinforces why his name still rings louder than most active stars today. Maybe it also proves that the Stockton legend still has another war left in him, whether it’s on Netflix, in BKFC’s bare-knuckle chaos, or under UFC lights in a PPV trilogy that would shake the sport!
