There are stories from the MMA world every day, but keeping up with them can be a pretty time-consuming task. But there’s nothing to worry about because our new roundup edition will help you stay in the loop about the most noteworthy moments from the last 24 hours. The first story in this edition is that UFC fans may finally have a 205lbs world title rematch to look forward to between Alex Pereira and Magomed Ankalaev.
Thereafter, we’ll shift our attention to Jon Jones, who’s reportedly asking for a specific period before fighting Tom Aspinall, which a featherweight star believes is all part of the champ’s game plan. Finally, we’ll end this roundup edition with Leon Edwards, who received a head-up from his UFC London opponent, Sean Brady.

Magomed Ankalaev claims the title rematch against Alex Pereira is a done deal
Dana White already hinted that a light heavyweight title rematch is “probably” going to happen down the line following UFC 313. In addition to that, Magomed Ankalaev has remained open to that idea, and it seems like the official announcement may not be too far from coming out. The reigning champion recently took to social media, claiming that he’s agreed terms with Dana White and Co. The Dagestani confidently promised a finish this time. “I have a date and I accepted already, I hope my opponent will accept too. This time there will be no 5 rounds, I don’t get paid by the hour.” Ankalaev stated on social media.

Alex Pereira, meanwhile registered a three-word reply on his Instagram story and further solidified the validity of this claim. The Brazilian wrote, “Bora (Let’s go) Ali. Chama.” Moreover, Pereira already mentioned wanting to come back and compete as soon as he could, because he didn’t take much damage, although he was essentially outclassed. So we can assume that Dana White may not make us wait too long to see him making this fight official.
While we would like to hear what you have to say about this 205-pound title rematch, let’s take a look at the next big story in this roundup edition.

Is Jon Jones playing mind games with Tom Aspinall, or is he genuinely preparing for a tough fight?

Is Jon Jones using reverse psychology amidst unification bout rumors vs. Tom Aspinall?
Featherweight star Arnold Allen seems invested in the Jon Jones and Tom Aspinall situation, sharing a theory regarding the Albuquerque native. For the unversed, MMA journalist Ariel Helwani stated that the undisputed heavyweight champion has reportedly requested six months of preparation right after the Aspinall bout is booked. “The clock is ticking on that one because I was told Jon wants six months to prepare if the fight is locked in. Now I’m sure money talks but it feels like if the summer is the goal it’s starting to tick away a bit. It might be like, what, September.”
The surging 145fer believes that this may work in the favor of the undisputed champ. However, the Ipswich native believes that Jones may have decided to go down the road less traveled. Using the boxing scene as an example, where up-and-comers aim to fight washed-up fighters to further their legacies, Allen claims that ‘Bones’ could be playing mind games with Aspinall for the British star to make a costly mistake.
“In boxing usually the younger guy forces the older boy to wait until they are past their prime, I feel like Jon’s playing some sort of reverso plan, maybe banking on Tom to rush something or get frustrated,” ‘Almighty’ Allen tweeted.

Jon Jones has fought some of the most legendary fighters this sport has ever seen, so it would be a bit unwise to believe to think that he’s ‘ducking’ Tom Aspinall. But what do you think? Will age play a big role when and if they fight down the line? But before we get into any discussions, here’s the final story of this daily roundup edition.

Leon Edwards gets a reminder about his weakness
Leon Edwards’ last outing at UFC 304 when he dropped the belt wasn’t an eventful one, as he struggled on the ground against Belal Muhammad and even got dropped on his head. However, his next opponent and #5 ranked Sean Brady has claimed that it’s a sign of weakness for ‘Rocky’ because that wasn’t the first time he showed his weakness against grapplers.
Citing that he showed the same issues while fighting former champion Kamaru Usman and former interim champ Colby Covington, who got destroyed by Joaquin Buckley recently, Brady plans to make use of his highly physical nature of wrestling at UFC Fight Night 255 in Edwards’ backyard.
“He lost to Belal… he was losing to Kamaru [in the second fight] until he landed the head kick. And the fight with Colby was horrible,” Sean Brady told MMA Junkie. “He talks about how he’s always fighting grapplers, but he doesn’t do great against them, either. So it’s not the smartest thing to say.”
