Max Holloway just arrived at the T-Mobile Arena with his wife, Alessa Quizon, and son, Rush. In just a few moments, he will step into the Octagon to face Conor McGregor, 13 years after they first met. However, before ‘Blessed’ gets into action, fans were quick to notice his unusual movements and eye-catching outfit.

The former featherweight and BMF champion wore a bright red outfit with striking gold patterns that immediately stood out. And it wasn’t just Holloway who embraced the bold look. His wife, Alessa, also wore a matching color scheme, with her outfit featuring predominantly yellow tones accented by red patterns, while Holloway’s son also wore a similar outfit as well.

Well, for those who may not know, Holloway’s outfit was inspired by Hawaiian king Kamehameha, who famously wore a bright red cloak adorned with gold patterns. The proud Hawaiian paid tribute to his land’s rich history and heritage with his UFC 329 walkout attire. However, it was his walking style that ended up raising concerns among fans.

As the former 145-pound champion made his way to the arena, some noticed what appeared to be a slight limp. Because of that, fans didn’t mince their words, calling out Max Holloway over his walkout while expressing concern about the apparent limp.

Fans react to Max Holloway limping in a new outfit ahead of UFC 329

One fan chimed in and wrote, “If Max shows up with a pizza, I’m suddenly more interested in the snack table than the main event.” For that fan, the former champ’s attire resembled the uniforms of a pizza chain, but it gets even wilder with another user comparing Max’s family to superhero TV show characters, writing, “Who talked y’all into dressing like Power Rangers?”

After that, a different user thought Holloway’s outfit: “Looks like some flamboyant acrobat/figure skater.” To be fair, figure skaters are known for wearing vibrant colors, especially red, to stand out against the white ice and under the bright arena lights. So, as far as figure skating is concerned, Holloway’s suit would fit right in.

Amid the various reactions to his outfit, one fan happened to recognize the inspiration behind the attire, writing, “In Royal King Kamehameha the Great colors of WAR! Let’s go! Destroy! No mercy!” Here, the user pointed out the aforementioned detail that Holloway’s suit was inspired by Hawaii’s great king. So, ‘Blessed’ didn’t try to stand out by picking a randomly colored outfit just to grab attention. Instead, he decided to use the moment to let his heritage shine.

Following those reactions, some fans happened to notice that Max Holloway appeared to limp his way to the arena. One fan wrote, “Am I tripping or he’s limping?” Then another user also pointed out, “Limping?” Well, the former featherweight champion didn’t reveal any prior leg injury before the bout, so it’s unlikely that the apparent limp spotted by fans was anything serious.

But Holloway is far from the first to draw this kind of concern. Previously, fans also suspected Anderson Silva of limping before fighting Michael Bisping at UFC Fight Night 84 in London. Still, even though there’s no indication of ‘Blessed’ suffering a prior injury, one fan thinks the Hawaiian must be scared of Conor McGregor: “Max looks scared, like it just hit him; he’s fighting Conor lol.”

Though Max Holloway was lightly trolled for his outfit choice, much of the reaction appeared to come from fans unfamiliar with its cultural significance and the heritage of the Hawaiian people. Viewed in that context, the former featherweight champion’s attire may have carried far more meaning than many initially realized.
