Things got heated backstage at the UFC 332 weigh-ins. Bobby ‘King’ Green and Esteban Ribovics nearly came to blows before their scheduled lightweight clash on Saturday after Ribovics missed weight for the first time in his UFC career.

What started as a tense backstage exchange quickly got physical, with Green shoving Ribovics as members of both teams got involved.

The confrontation took place outside the fighter hotel where the weigh-ins for UFC 332 were being held. Green walked over to Ribovics with several members of his team, including former world champion boxer Arnold Barboza Jr., and the situation quickly became heated.

Green shoved Ribovics, prompting members of both camps to push and argue with each other. Thankfully, the confrontation did not escalate further, allowing the fight to remain intact.

Barboza wasn’t exactly helping to cool things down either. As the Argentine stood across from Green’s camp, the boxer could be heard repeatedly yelling the same message at “El Gringo.”

“Be professional. Make weight,” Barboza repeatedly screamed.

The confrontation came after Ribovics failed to make the 156-lb non-title limit ahead of his main card matchup with Green.

King Green weighed in at 155.5 lbs earlier Friday, maintaining his perfect record of making weight across all 31 of his UFC fights. Ribovics, meanwhile, showed up more than an hour after most of the UFC 332 card had completed their weigh-ins and came in at 156.5 lbs, a solid pound over Green and about 0.5 lbs over the stipulated weight limit.

The Argentine was then given another opportunity behind the curtain after removing his shorts, but he still couldn’t get down to the required 156 lbs.

That left Esteban Ribovics as the only fighter to have missed weight on the entire UFC 332 card.

As a result, he was immediately slapped with a 20% deduction from his fight-night purse. This 20% will now be handed over to King Green to ensure the fight goes through. On top of that, the weight miss has also ruled him out of the UFC’s $100,000 Performance of the Night and Fight of the Night bonuses.

Green certainly wasn’t upset about the extra money when he first found out.

“Sheesh! Damn! My opponent was nowhere to be seen,” Green said on his livestream. “He got 50 minutes. If he don’t make weight, taxing that check. Taxing that a–. Take 20% and bust me off some of that money.”

However, Green’s mood changed after he heard Ribovics explain that he had accepted the fight on short notice. The veteran lightweight wasn’t particularly sympathetic to the explanation.

“I got my s— on 28 days,” Green stated. “You b—- a– n—-. Man, these b—- a– n—– got every excuse in the world. I got 28 days, I had less than what he had. He had four weeks.”

Ribovics had reportedly cut his family trip to Disney World in Orlando short to accept the fight, but that did little to ease the tension between the two lightweights.

Green, meanwhile, wasn’t exactly cruising through his own weight cut either.

The 40-year-old has made weight in all 31 of his UFC fights, but the process appeared to take a serious toll on him this time around. Green looked completely drained as he worked his way toward the limit and wasn’t exactly in the mood for small talk when a cameraman tried to check in on him.

“What do you feel right now?” the cameraman asked.

“F— you! I feel like f— you! Don’t ask me no motherf—— questions,” Green fired back.

Despite the drama surrounding it, the fight remains on the card, except it will now be fought at catchweight.

Since Ribovics has to forfeit 20% of his purse to Green, the UFC veteran could potentially pocket an additional $200,000 if the matchup wins Fight of the Night.

The extra money is certainly useful, but Green has his eyes on a much bigger opportunity.

Dana White opens the door for King Green’s BMF dream

Green enters UFC 332 riding a four-fight winning streak, matching his best run since he opened his UFC career with four straight wins back in 2013.

After being stopped by Mauricio Ruffy in March 2025, the 40-year-old has bounced back in style, picking up three straight finishes: a knockout of Daniel Zellhuber, a submission win over Jeremy Stephens and, most recently, a stoppage victory against Terrance McKinney.

That run has given Green momentum, but getting a ranked opponent has been easier said than done. His long-standing BMF ambitions haven’t looked much more realistic either.

“It would be the ultimate honour; it would be a dream come true,” Green said during Wednesday’s media day. “It will never happen, though; I can’t even get a 15 guy, let alone a BMF shot. I wanna earn my shot.”

The UFC veteran’s BMF hopes may have received an unexpected boost when a reporter brought up his name to Dana White during Thursday’s press conference in Utah.

The UFC CEO didn’t push back on the idea. In fact, White appeared to agree that Green could be a fitting candidate for the symbolic title.

“I do not disagree with you. I absolutely agree,” White said.

Charles Oliveira currently holds the BMF title after beating Max Holloway in their rematch this past March. ‘Do Bronx’ relied heavily on his grappling to get the job done, a style that didn’t exactly thrill fans who expect the BMF belt to come with nonstop action.

For now, though, Green has Esteban Ribovics standing in his way.

The two lightweights have already created plenty of tension before stepping inside the Octagon. If Green can extend his winning streak at UFC 332, he could take another step toward the bigger opportunities he has been chasing—and perhaps bring his once-unlikely BMF dream a little closer to reality.
