Ahead of Paulo Costa‘s UFC 318 return, the Brazilian appeared incensed while addressing the media when he mentioned his dislike for Khamzat Chimaev. The middleweight contender seemed irate with the Chechen-born Emirati star for apparently getting into his girlfriend’s DMs. Well, Chimaev wasn’t going to stay silent about it, so he shared a response to Costa’s claims.

Paulo Costa showed the same energy when it came to his feelings about Khamzat Chimaev after his UFC 318 win over Roman Kopylov. “Everybody knows I hate that guy. Everybody knows who. That motherf—er Chimaev,” said Paulo Costa, as he called ‘Borz’ out. “He’s a big a–hole. And you know, my wife [girlfriend] is over here. He DM her. This is not good.” Well, it didn’t take too much time for Chimaev to share his version of the whole situation.

It appears that ‘Borz’ has been witnessing the PPV action at home, because he issued a message after Costa’s post-fight interview, and guess what? His version of the story is vastly different from that of the Brazilian star. It appears that Chimaev wasn’t the one who approached Costa’s girlfriend, but rather, it was his girlfriend who initiated it all. “It was she who wrote to me habibi,” Chimaev wrote on X.

Well, Paulo Costa’s claims that Khamzat Chimaev “crossed the line” with his girlfriend via DMs appear to be a pretty clouded statement now, as the Chechen-born claimed something else. Meanwhile, Costa went all out on the mic after his recent win. Chimaev may not like it, but the Brazilian star called him a “coward.” Let’s take a look at that front.

Paulo Costa is going to “chase” Khamzat Chimaev

Paulo Costa looked perhaps the most angry he’s ever been when he spoke about Khamzat Chimaev’s alleged message to his girlfriend. While we wait to see how he responds to the undefeated star’s tweet about the incident, he went all out on Chimaev during his post-fight Octagon interview. Costa not only dissed Chimaev but also called him out for a fight, claiming that he’s looking for him.

“He say bad things about me, about her [his girlfriend]. But he never said to me [face to face] because he’s a coward,” Paulo Costa told Daniel Cormier. “Chimaev [inaudible], you’re a coward. And I’m here, I’m going to look for you. I’m gonna chase for you, and I will not with you [until] I get you.” Well, the Brazilian star seems really fired up about the situation with Khamzat Chimaev, who appears to have no idea where he went wrong.

Well, the two contrasting stories of Paulo Costa and Khamzat Chimaev has made the situation even more complex. It remains to be seen how things go forward from here now that he’s issued a response.
