Jon Jones imparts his true thoughts about retiring from the sport

Jon Jones’s career has been nothing but a rollercoaster ride for the dual-weight champion. ‘Bones’ embraced his UFC journey when he was just 21 years old and it took him just two years under the promotion to become a champion at 23. It must be noted that the fighter is the youngest champion in the history of the promotion. With a career spanning over a decade, it appears that it is time for ‘Bones’ to put his gloves down after his clash against Stipe Miocic.

It must be noted that last month, a fan asked him the same on social media, to which the heavyweight champ said, “Fun fact after this year Jon Jones will never have to work again, retired at age 37.”

Well, ‘Bones’ was supposed to fight Miocic last year at the UFC 295 but his pectoral injury hindered their fight. After a year of waiting, Dana White came forward to officially announce that the UFC 309 would be headlined by Jones and Miocic. He said, “Jon Jones is going to fight [Stipe Miocic] in Madison Square Garden in November. And then if he wins or Stipe wins, we see what happens next,” said White.

The UFC CEO stated that it would be tough if both the heavyweight GOATS retire after their last clash but Dana White is optimistic that despite all the retirement calls, the legendary MMA star might test himself against Tom Aspinall after defeating Stipe Miocic.

Dana White is optimistic about the prospects of Jones vs. Aspinall

While talking to the media, Dana White announced that the matchup between Tom Aspinall and Jon Jones could come to fruition contrary to what the MMA community thinks. The UFC CEO believes that Jones might want to test his strength provided that he would win his clash against Stipe Miocic at the end of this year.

“I believe that fight happens if Jon Jones beats Stipe. Dislike him, whatever your beef is with Jon Jones, knock yourself out. There’s no way in hell that Jon Jones doesn’t want to fight Aspinall. That I guarantee you,” said Dana White while having a conversation with the media. It must be noted that the English fighter is currently the biggest prospect for the heavyweight title as he became the second person to defend his Interim belt against Curtis Blaydes at UFC 304.
