This effort to pronounce his name was quite amusing and made rounds on the internet. Amongst several other fans, it caught the attention of Khabib himself, who was in the Octagon at the time. Witnessing it, he felt the need to call out the UFC commentator and ask him to remember his cousin’s name correctly. On Instagram, he wrote, “@joerogan you should have remembered this name 😄@umar_nurmagomedov is a problem 👊”

Safe to say that, Khabib is not just a mentor and coach for his brothers but, to an extent, even their promoter. However, it bears mention that this has not been the sole instance that the retired fighter has publicly endorsed his brother as a formidable combatant. Which just goes to show the love and affection between them. So, let’s take a closer look at their relationship.

The Relationship between Khabib and Umar Nurmagomedov

Last year, the head coach of Khabib and Umar Nurmagomedov weighed in on the relationship between the Nurmagomedov brothers. The MMA coach has been associated with the family for a long time, so his opinion is of great relevance. According to him, fighting runs in their blood and the two have a great bond with each other.

On his Instagram story, he said, “This is why these 3 are a family of Champions. The competitive nature and fun they have. I have never seen this as a Coach from any others that I have trained that were family blood-related. @khabib_nurmagomedov @usman_nurmagomedov @umar_nurmagomedov champions in life and sport. My heart and family of (eagles) no chickens allowed @nas_sc #familyfirst”
