The 94th Annual Academy Awards are in the headlines, but this year for an unforeseen reason. The best actor in a leading role winner, Will Smith, came in the highlights, perhaps for his off-screen ‘performance’. Or rather a ‘foolish act‘ as called out by the UFC commentator and comedian, Joe Rogan. In a recent JRE podcast, Rogan spoke about the incident between Smith and fellow stand-up comedian, Chris Rock.

The actor slapped Rock on the stage for joking about Smith’s wife for her shaved head. Later, Smith apologized for his actions, and Rock did not press any charges against Smith.

While talking about the situation, Rogan said that this was a ‘teachable moment’ for the world. Rogan, who has been a host of headlines himself lately, suggested that even celebrities can make mistakes and that’s normal because even they’re human beings.

“I don’t think Will Smith should go to jail… I think he knows it was a foolish act. Everybody else knows. I think it’s one of those learning experiences for the world, it’s like a teachable moment. Right like the whole world can see that we put stars and celebrities up on pedestals, but they’re just human beings. And Sometimes human beings get pushed to the point where they do something irrational,” suggested Rogan.

Joe Rogan talks about the Brawl between Colby Covington and Jorge Masvidal

An unusually similar incident took place in the MMA world as Colby Covington got sucker-punched by Jorge Masvidal. Although conversely, Covington did press charges against his friend-turned-foe. ‘Gamebred‘ allegedly attacked ‘Chaos‘, who was meeting with ‘Nelk Boys’ for a podcast show at a restaurant in Miami. Talking about this incident, Rogan felt that Masvidal should have accepted his loss respectfully.

“That’s what happened in the fight. If you want to fight someone, and you fight someone, and you lose, I feel like, at a certain point in time, you gotta accept what happened.” said Rogan.
