UFC 308 indeed ended with an unexpected bang. Ilia Topuria became the first man to defeat Max Holloway with a knockout, as his left hook slept the BMF champion in the third round of their fight. Needless to say, this performance garnered quite a bit of attention from the fighting community. And Conor McGregor was one of them.

As soon as Topuria secured the win and successfully defended his featherweight championship title, McGregor rushed to social media and urged the Spaniard to call him out. He tweeted, “Call me.” No wonder, the former UFC double champion was after the fame that the Georgian-born champion seemed to carry. And defeating him would bring nothing but honor to the Irishman.

These two words began circling around the internet. When the ‘Mystic Mac’ stumbled upon one such repost that highlighted his words for “El Matador’, he had no choice but to fire some shots at the Spaniard. McGregor tweeted, “Good little fighter, too small for anything substantial imo. He was getting chewed up there.”

After all, McGregor was a bit grumpy for losing about half a million dollars at UFC 308. Shocked? Well, the Irish mixed martial artist did bet on Max Holloway to win via KO. He lost a total potential payout of about $17 million. No wonder he was so upset and wanted to fight Ilia Topuria.

But does the UFC head honcho, Dana White, approve of Conor McGregor’s callout for ‘El Matador’? Let’s find out!

Dana White weighs in on Conor McGregor’s callout for Ilia Topuria

Well, White wasn’t really aware of what ‘The Notorious’ wrote on X. During the post-fight press conference, he appeared nothing but utterly confused when a reporter pointed out McGregor’s deleted post. The UFC CEO exclaimed, “I don’t know [who McGregor called out]. I think he did it to get this – we’re all sitting here, going, ‘Huh? What did he mean?’”

But there was a time when the featherweight champion gave his opinion on why McGregor had a habit of deleting his tweets. He said, “Because he’s a p—y. He’s like a small kid, you know. He’s like a kid- I insult you, I write you, I don’t know, some s–t on the social media, and then I delete it. Bro go f–k yourself.”

With a new rivalry rising between Topuria and McGregor, the fighting community eagerly lies in wait for the ‘Mystic Mac’ to make a comeback to the UFC. But would the Irishman actually fight Topuria? Well, it certainly seemed like McGregor had gained some weight and planned to fight in the welterweight division. Fighting at the featherweight class once again would extract a pretty heavy toll from the Dubliner. While it may be an exciting matchup, a fight between Topuria and McGregor isn’t likely to happen.
