Erin Blanchfield established herself as a serious contender in the UFC women’s flyweight division this past weekend. The 23-year-old has put herself into title fight conversations with a dominant win over former UFC champion Jessica Andrade. Her undefeated run in the UFC has caught the attention of fans and pros, now more than ever. With her performances in her last two outings, many are considering her a serious threat to Valentina Shevchenko‘s dominant reign.

Following her win over Jessica Andrade at UFC Vegas 69, Blanchfield opened up about her title fight aspirations and she already has the champion in her sights.
Blanchfield has one of the most respectable resumes of all the athletes on the current UFC roster. She boasts an 11-1 pro record with her only loss being against Tracy Cortez during their time at Invicta FC in 2019. Since then, Blanchfield has been on a tear, putting together an 8-fight win streak. The road she is currently on runs through Valentina Shevchenko and Erin “Cold Blooded” Blanchfield is ready for the challenge.
Erin Blanchfield speaks up on title aspirations
Blanchfield had a sit down with popular MMA media personality ‘The Schmo’ to talk about UFC Vegas 69. The pair discussed her short-notice fight against Andrade and her plans for the future. Unsurprisingly, Blanchfield called for a title shot against the current champion Shevchenko.
However, Shevchenko is currently preparing to fight Alexa Grasso at UFC 285. Therefore, she also gave a timeline that she preferred for a fight against the champion, regardless of who wins at UFC 285.
Blanchfield said, “You know, I think whoever wins that title, maybe we can fight in July in the international fight week. That’d be great.”
On another note, she added she would take a non-title fight next, although it would not be her first preference. She said, “I’d definitely rather fight for a title first, but I only have five fights in the UFC, so another fight wouldn’t be bad either.”
