I think that fight was important for me, so I take it as positively as possible,” said Anshul Jubli as he reflected upon his loss against Mike Breeden on his MMA debut back in UFC 294 in Abu Dhabi.  Representing India, Jubli carries the hopes of over a billion people on his shoulders. With this immense pressure, he will step onto the stage once again, a year after his initial loss to Breeden. This time, ‘The King of Lions’ is set to clash with Australian fighter Quillan Salkilld at UFC 312.

His initial fight might have ended in defeat but Anshul is back with a bigger motivation, “I will do everything that I can to win this fight, and I’m going to go there and dominate the fight.” Given that, ahead of his second fight under the UFC banner, let us have a look at what the lone Indian male fighter in the UFC earns from his bout against the Aussie fighter.

Anshul Jubli’s UFC 312 payout and salary

The bigger the name and skills, the bigger the payout for the fighters at the UFC, and Anshul Jubli might be lacking in some regards right now. Apart from his Indian audience, ‘The King of Lions’ is relatively unknown across the broader MMA spectrum, which has impacted his contract. Paradigm Sports Management currently manages the Indian fighter and has been under their management since he joined the UFC.

According to ‘MMA Salaries’, Anshul Jubli has earned a meager $20000 for his fight against Mike Breeden as a base salary. However, it must be noted that the young fighter had earned $12000 as a base pay and an additional $12000 as a win bonus along with $4000 in sponsorships for a total payout of $78,000, including a $50,000 UFC bonus for his clash against Jeka Saragih at Road to UFC.

If we look at his stats, Anshul Jubli has been earning around $20000 as his base pay from the promotion, and this appears to be the case until the fighter adds some victories under his banner. Interestingly, ‘The King of Lions’ exposed in his confession that the $50000 pay is nothing but a facade, as taxes gobble up most of it.

Jubli’s UFC contract and journey so far

After defeating Jeka Saragih in the Road to UFC Season 1 lightweight tournament final, Anshul Jubli finally earned a much-coveted UFC contract. However, the details of his contract’s terms are yet to be disclosed. One thing is certain: Jubli has multiple fights lined up under the UFC banner. In his conversation with the media, the Indian fighter explained the disparity in earnings between American and non-American fighters, emphasizing how US taxes eat heavily into fighters’ earnings alongside other expenses.

While having a conversation with the Liv MMA YouTube channel, Anshul Jubli stated, “So the thing is, the actual thing is, it was not 50Gs ($50,000). It was around 20Gs ($20,000). If you’re a foreigner fighting in the US, they take 35%. Then you have to give 20% to your management. Then you have to give 10% to your gym and this and that.”
