Ciryl Gane is set to take on Francis Ngannou in a title unification bout at UFC 270 earlier next year. ‘Bon Gamin’ became the interim champion with a statement win against Derrick Lewis at UFC 265. Joe Rogan was in awe of Gane’s performance during the pay-per-view at Houston, Texas.

After the fight between Lewis and Gane, Rogan sat down for a chat on his podcast. He explained to his guest, Lex Fridman why Gane is a unique talent in the heavyweight division of the UFC.

“Ciryl Gane, who’s 6 foot 5, 247 lbs, moves like a 170-pounder. It’s crazy. He’s bouncing like ‘Wonderboy’,” said Rogan comparing the French heavyweight with welterweight fighter Stephen Thompson.

“The entire fight, bouncing, throwing feints, like completely changed the standard of heavyweight fighting. And I am not exaggerating. I watched it 3 times, I watched it today,” he added further.

It’s true that Gane is a unique talent in the heavyweight division. No other heavyweight in the history of the promotion has shown that sort of movement and fluidity inside the Octagon as Gane. His ability to move in and out of the range and sting his opponents with an array of stories is unmatched.

Ngannou and Gane happen to be former training partners. They have helped each other grow to their respective positions with the daily grind. However, both men are determined to establish their supremacy in the heavyweight division of the UFC now.

Stylistically, fans couldn’t have asked for a better match-up. Gane is a technical mastermind. Ngannou, on the other hand, has the equalizer to end any fight in a flash with his vicious knockout power. It will be interesting to see who comes out on top when the duo eventually collides inside the Octagon in January.
