Paddy Pimblett and Michael Chandler weren’t exactly beefing in the lead-up to their UFC 314 fight. Sure words were thrown in each others’ directions, but it was all in the spirit of competition. But while ‘The Baddy’ didn’t have a beef going into the bout, he found himself right in the thick of one after his fight. We’re indeed talking about the backstage scuffle between Paddy Pimblett and Colby Covington, after ‘The Baddy’ finished Michael Chandler in the third round. There has been no love lost between the two, but Covington decided to amp things up by saying that Pimblett wins against “scrubs.” Of course, the Scouser didn’t let that slip, and both proceeded to trade verbal barbs with each other before being separated.

During a recent conversation with Full Send MMA, Covington revealed his side of the story. He claimed, “He’s been loving to run my name through his mouth in the media. He talks about me every chance he gets.” ‘Chaos’ recollected the press conference from UFC 296, when he was set to face Leon Edwards, where the Scouser had a microphone in front of him, yet he stayed quiet. Covington continued, “So, you know, I’m just sick of him running my name through his mouth. I’m gonna confront you and we’re gonna talk about it.”

The former interim welterweight champion then moved on to talk about some facts. He claimed, “The combined losing streak of his last three opponents, 13-fight losing streak. 13-fight losing streak! The guy’s never gonna get to a title fight. He’s never gonna be a champion. He’s a f— bum. And all he does is mumble f— sausages all day.” He pointed out that Tony Ferguson was on a 6-fight losing streak when he fought Pimblett and Michael Chandler was on a 2-fight losing streak.

Covington bashed ‘The Baddy’ for being an undercard fighter. He said, “I’m not a gimmick. I’m a real fighter, dude. I’m a real champion. I’ve f— been here, and I’ve done that. He hasn’t done s—. He’s fighting guys that’re on massive losing streaks…” In the end, ‘Chaos’ sent a warning for Pimblett, claiming that he would end “with my foot in his a–” if he continued to keep the WW’s name in his media talks.

As for Pimblett, well the lightweight with an undefeated record in the UFC doesn’t take Covington seriously. Let’s see what ‘The Baddy’ had to say about his scuffle with Covington.

Paddy Pimblett isn’t budged by Colby Covington’s fury

During the post-fight interview with ESPN, Pimblett pointed out that Covington talks crazy only when there’s a camera around. He claimed that ‘Chaos’ did the same thing at PowerSlap, too. Pimblett further added that all he said was that he’d come and slap him, but Covington would go and snitch to the police as he did with his former teammate-turned-rival, Jorge Masvidal

What’s your perspective on:

Is Colby Covington right about Pimblett fighting 'scrubs,' or is 'The Baddy' the real deal?

Have an interesting take?

Pimblett continued, “He can eat s—. He pays supermodels to stand with him, the f— bum. He’s a nobody. He’s on a three-fight losing streak or something, he’s irrelevant. He’s trying to use me now to stay relevant because he’s a nobody, he’s a bum. I’d beat Colby Covington for a laugh, but I’ve got bigger fish to fry than that little mushroom.”

On top of that, ‘The Baddy’ took a shot at Covington’s MMA record. He dissed him, claiming that he had won only one fight since 2021. And even that came via a decision. Meanwhile, the Scouser is currently on a 9-fight winning streak. But would this actually matter if the two happened to fight each other in the Octagon?
