Sedriques Dumas calls for a rematch after UFC Noche disaster

Following the incident, ‘The Reaper’ took to Instagram stories to address the situation, showing both sportsmanship and a willingness to set the record straight. “Sorry, family friends, it’s just one of those things I try to get up and compete more due to a past injury. In same spot. respect to @savage185reese for apologizing.”

Definitely unsatisfied with how the much-awaited clash met its end, Sedriques Dumas requested a rematch to finally put this rivalry to an end. He added, “Let’s hopefully get a rematch man. For the unaware, the incident occurred early in the first round, when Reese’s body kick landed below the belt, leaving Dumas writhing on the canvas for almost four minutes. Despite spending the whole recovery time, he was unable to continue, repeatedly telling authorities, “I cannot get up,” before the referee stopped the fight at 0:51 in Round 1.

The image of Dumas being removed from the Octagon on a stretcher highlighted the gravity of the accidental foul, leaving the middleweight fight unfinished. This was surely frustrating for ‘The Reaper,’ as this bout was initially set for UFC 311 in January 2025 but was postponed, making UFC Noche their first official meeting.

The buildup and rescheduling only heightened the excitement, and the unresolved outcome now sets the scenario for a rematch that both fans and pundits are looking forward to. And while Dumas did not get the finish he wanted, ‘The Reaper’ should be glad that at least it put an end to his financial woes.

Dumas gets a good payday after hitting bankruptcy

Ahead of UFC Noche, Sedriques Dumas revealed the struggles outside the Octagon, uploading a screenshot of his bank account with only $13.96 remaining. His financial burden was attributed to legal fees, family responsibilities, and missed bout purses as a result of past court-ordered restrictions, like an ankle monitor.

Despite the no-contest ruling, competing at UFC Noche secured ‘The Reaper’ a sizable fight purse, putting him out of imminent financial trouble. But how much did he earn despite the fight reaching a proper end? Well, based on his previous UFC earnings, Sedriques Dumas normally makes between $40,000 and $50,000 for a base fight, plus a similar amount for a victory bonus, sponsorships, and performance bonuses.

For example, in his April 2025 bout against Michał Oleksiejczuk, he reportedly earned around $48,000 to $50,000 in total show and win money. Even without a win, this fight compensation relieved Dumas’ previously tight finances and gave him the stability he needed to prepare for a possible rematch with Reese.
