One of the biggest beefs that the combat world ever saw was not between two fighters. Instead, it was between UFC commentator Joe Rogan and former UFC light heavyweight champion Quinton Jackson. The beef was a long one, as it started somewhere around 2011 and lasted for about a decade. But when was the exact moment that white flags began to rise? Well, the video footage of the historic moment has finally hit the internet.
But, before we talk about the video, we need to understand the history of their feud. It all started when ‘Rampage’ became irritated with Rogan’s supposed “biased” commentary that favored jiu-jitsu practitioners. While the JRE host described his comments as objective analysis designed to help viewers understand what each fighter can do to improve their chances of winning a specific battle, Jackson said Rogan was unfairly critical of his kicks and footwork.
Now, in the video that is now going viral on Instagram, Joe Rogan can be seen approaching the former UFC light heavyweight champion who was seated on a chair. Sitting beside him, the JRE host let the fighter know that the only reason he critiques him is because he wants him to improve. “I always want you to know that if I say anything, it’s never out of disrespect. I like you, dude. I root for you.” He further reiterated this point in the video: “I just want you to know that it’s never disrespectful. And if I’m ever saying anything, it’s just because I need you to do better.”

But while Quinton Jackson did accept his apology and reasoning, he did reveal the hardships that he had to face because of the commentary done by Rogan. ‘Rampage’ revealed that he found it hard to interact with fans as they constantly brought up Joe Rogan’s pointers about him and made it difficult for him to have a normal interaction. He said, “I’m telling you how I could take criticism. It doesn’t bother me, but every time I meet one of these fans, they just bring the s**t up.” He added, “It turns me off to those fans. It makes me not even want to talk to them, so most of the time, I just walk away or cuss them out.”

Aware of how the internet community is, Joe Rogan admits that it is a problem with the internet and a problem with accessibility. He claims that people will run into a certain amount of “s**theads,” however, he means no harm. This was enough for Jackson to finally squash the beef and allow Rogan to critique his skills whenever necessary. In fact, with time, the remaining wounds were healed and he even surprised fans with an appearance on the Joe Rogan Experience.
Quinton Jackson’s appearance on the Joe Rogan Experience that broke the internet
Last summer, MMA fans got the surprise of a lifetime when ‘Rampage’ appeared on Joe Rogan’s podcast and posted about it on his Instagram. It definitely was a sight that seemed even impossible to imagine for UFC fans. After all, the legendary rivalry between the two seemed to be destined to last a lifetime. So, everyone thought that the former UFC light heavyweight champion would never be invited to the podcast.

What’s your perspective on:
Could Joe Rogan's BJJ skills actually give him a fighting chance against Rampage in the ring?
Have an interesting take?
However, by 2024, things undoubtedly changed significantly. Quinton Jackson uploaded a photo of himself and Joe Rogan with the message, “Damn I look like my lil brother in this pic,” while talking about their wonderful time on the podcast. “@joerogan has the best podcast, but you already knew that.” This photo surely went viral, especially after the UFC fighter vowed that he would ‘beat the s**t’ out of Joe Rogan’ if the two ever had a fight.
However, given the commentator’s BJJ background, he also stated that if the bout got to the ground, he would have a difficult challenge. But seeing that the two have finally squashed the beef, there’s no way that they would share the Octagon for a one-on-one. But what do you think? Who would’ve won the fight? Will Joe Rogan stand a chance against ‘Rampage’? Let us know in the comments.
