UFC 314 was a big fight for Paddy Pimblett; A chance to throw his name into title fight conversations by defeating a veteran like Michael Chandler. But ‘Chaos’ was craving some of that limelight, and following the event, tensions escalated when he confronted the Englishman. While the American slammed the quality of Pimblett’s recent opponents, the 155fer fired back by taking shots at Colby Covington’s losing streak. But neither side is ready to stop anytime soon and has continued to take digs.

Pimblett has already shared his side of the story earlier this week and alleged that the welterweight fighter only ever starts something when the cameras are around. Now we finally have Covington’s side of the story, and let’s just say, he didn’t hesitate one bit. In a new appearance on Full Send MMA, Colby Covington doubled down, once again criticizing the British fighter. He stated:

“He has been loving to run my name through his mouth in the media. You know, he talks about me every chance he gets. So I just said, ‘Hey, what’s up, bro? You want to talk to me to my face right now? Say something now? You know like, he has nothing to say. He had a mic in Vegas when I fought in the title fight and he didn’t say s–t. He sat there like a good little b–ch and didn’t say s–t.

“He didn’t say his little sausage lines. He didn’t, that Ellen DeGeneres-looking f—ing nerd, he had nothing to say. He was piped down like the little b–ch he is. So I am just sick of him running my name through his mouth. I am going to confront you and we are going to talk about it. Let’s talk about facts, though. The facts are the combined losing streaks of his last three opponents. 13-fight losing streak. The guy is never going to get to a title fight, he’s never going to be a champion.

Pimblett’s last three opponents and their recent records: Tony Ferguson (0-8), Bobby Green (0-2), and most recently, Michael Chandler (0-3)—have a combined 13 losses in a row and are veterans of the sport. Whatever it may be, facing and defeating ‘Iron’ worked for the 30-year-old. He is sitting at #8 in the lightweight division—significantly higher than before. This puts him in a position to face fighters like Mateusz Gamrot and Dan Hooker.

But Covington further stated: “I think Paddy’s all hype. As soon as he stops fighting in that little boy’s weight class and he wants to come to a real man’s weight class, I’ll be waiting for him.” However, there’s a flaw in Covington’s critique.

His take on Pimblett’s resume doesn’t quite line up with the facts. When Pimblett fought those names in the past, Michael Chandler was on a two-fight losing streak, Tony Ferguson had dropped six straight, and Bobby Green was coming off a win. And as for that ‘Ellen DeGeneres’ label? That might already be outdated.

In his latest outings, Paddy the Baddy has ditched the bowl cut and stepped into the cage with a fresh look—braided hair. MMA pundit Adam Catterall broke down the reason behind the switch while chatting with Tom Aspinall. “Whether he’s getting touched or not, when Paddy’s moving his head, the bowl cut made it look like he was getting clipped. Now that it’s tied back, it’s a lot less noticeable to the judges.”

Paddy Pimblett shed light on his heated backstage confrontation with Colby Covington after UFC 314

Last Saturday night, Paddy Pimblett stepped into the Octagon and overcame the toughest test of his career, defeating the ranked #7 contender, Michael Chandler, with a stunning knockout. The victory pushed the Liverpudlian one step closer to the title picture. However, not everyone was impressed. Colby Covington has already shared his verdict, slamming the brakes on ‘The Baddie’s rise.

But for the Englishman, Covington’s opinion means nothing. Speaking about the backstage encounter at UFC 314, Pimblett revealed: “Now, he knows there’s a camera about. He walked past, so I just said, ‘Lad, I’ll come and slap you, but you’ll go and ring the police on me like you did with Masvidal, you little grass [snitch].'”

The Englishman didn’t hold back, adding: “He can eat s–t. He pays supermodels to stand with him, the f–ing bum. He’s a nobody. He’s on a three-fight losing streak or something—he’s irrelevant. He’s trying to use me now to stay relevant because he’s a nobody, he’s a bum.”
