Nate Diaz has a thing for throwing water bottles. The former UFC superstar, along with older brother Nick, is part of the most legendary sibling duo in MMA. Perhaps not the most accomplished, but they are really, really popular among fans. After all, the duo’s reputation as absolute warriors in the Octagon and authentic, no-nonsense attitude has served them well. But this attitude has also made them certain enemies, at whom they really like to throw water bottles.
You may remember them famously throwing water bottles at Conor McGregor (who responded in kind) during their heated UFC 202 press conference. In fact, that incident is why any cans or bottles kept on the UFC stages are now completely empty. More recently, Nate was seen throwing bottles at Islam Makhachev’s team before UFC 310, having a long-standing feud with Khabib Nurmagomedov and his Dagestani cohorts, including Makhachev. And in a recent interview, he revealed exactly why water bottles are his weapon of choice.
“I stay hydrated. I always have water on me, no matter where I’m at. You should see next to my bed in my room, I’ve got fucking 15 waters from every night. Then someone starts popping off, [I throw the bottle] like shut up, bitch,” Nate said on the ‘HJR’ podcast

Professional troll and part-time fighter, Dillon Danis, reacting to this quote, claimed that not only was he there to witness Nate throw his first bottle, but he even threw said bottle at Nate’s older brother, Nick. “I caught his first one ever and threw it right back at Nick,” Danis wrote on Instagram. Danis, of course, considers Conor McGregor and his friend and was even part of his team for the UFC 202 rematch with Diaz.

While we do not know for sure, maybe Danis is talking about the infamous UFC 202 presser, where Diaz threw the bottle towards McGregor? If you look at the clip of that kerfuffle, you can see Nate does throw the first bottle, and there are a couple of bottles thrown towards him and Nick before ‘The Notorious’ launches water bottles from the stage.

Could one of these post-Diaz but pre-McGregor bottles have been thrown by Danis? Or maybe the BJJ black belt is talking about another incident altogether; we don’t know, he doesn’t specify any details. Of course, there is also a chance Danis made the whole story up entirely, but nothing could be said for sure unless the former Bellator fighter provides more details. Danis, of course, has also been trying to Nate in MMA, but the Stockton native has his eyes on a much bigger prize.

Nate Diaz wants to return to the UFC for the much-awaited Conor McGregor trilogy
Dillon Danis was complaining last year that Nate Diaz, who is a free agent at the moment, was among the former UFC stars who had declined to fight him. And it seems like the former BMF contender has good reasons to give Danis a miss– he is aiming for a much more famous opponent– Danis’ friend Conor McGregor.

“I plan on going back to the UFC. If they have me, I would like to go back and f—ing whoop someone’s a– there. I’m not fighting in there because there’s nobody to fight really. It’s kinda slow rolling… Me and him for sure got unfinished business. Got to happen,” Nate told the ‘HJR Podcast’.
Of course, Nick and McGregor are 1-1 in their two fights so far. The Stockton native shockingly stopped ‘The Notorious’ at UFC 196, while McGregor won their UFC 202 rematch. Moreover, both are in similar positions in their careers, i.e., washed up and not really in a position to compete with the killers in their divisions. While most doubt that McGregor would ever return to the Octagon, on the off-chance that he does, the Irishman has the perfect opponent. What do you think about Dillon Danis’s claims about Nate’s bottle-throwing?
