Chase Hooper may have lost a tough fight at UFC Seattle, but life outside the Octagon is giving him a much bigger win. Just days after being stopped by Lance Gibson Jr. in front of his home crowd, ‘The Dream’ took to Instagram to share a heartfelt update.
The lightweight and his wife, Anna Hooper, have confirmed that they are expecting their second daughter in July 2026. The post included ultrasound images of the baby and photos of Anna proudly showing off her baby belly, providing a glimpse into a far more personal side of the fighter’s life.

The announcement quickly drew attention from across the MMA community, as several fighters flooded the comments with congratulatory messages. Sergio Pettis kept things simple, as he commented, “Congrats 🙏🏽.” Jens Pulver and Aly Mac followed suit with their comments, “Congrats” and “Congratulations!! 😍👏,” respectively.
Juliana Miller went all out with the emojis as she commented, “❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️.” Meanwhile, other notable names, including Cory Sandhagen, Miesha Tate, Nina Drama, Angela Hill, Amanda Ribas, and Jessica Penne, expressed their support through likes.
This is a sharp contrast to what unfolded inside the cage. Chase Hooper entered the fight at Climate Pledge Arena hoping to bounce back from his defeat against Alexander Hernandez, but he was quickly overpowered by Lance Gibson Jr.’s powerful offense.
A quick elbow followed by a flurry of hits ended the bout in less than three minutes, leaving the hometown favorite stunned. Still, moments like this remind fans that a fighter’s journey isn’t defined by one night.
While concerns remain over Hooper’s future in the lightweight division following back-to-back knockout losses, his latest announcement shifts the focus to something far more significant.
The loss at UFC Seattle may sting for Chase Hooper, but with another child on the way, it’s clear that his biggest wins aren’t limited to the Octagon. And while he had an emotional moment outside the cage with this big announcement, his opponent, Lance Gibson Jr., was overwhelmed inside of it as the son of a UFC veteran earned his first UFC win.
Lance Gibson Jr. gets emotional after scoring a vicious KO against Chase Hooper
While Chase Hooper got his moment outside the cage, inside it belonged entirely to Lance Gibson Jr. at UFC Seattle. The underdog didn’t just win; he made a statement. Following a cautious start, ‘Fearless’ found an opportunity and unleashed a brutal elbow that quickly changed the fight, followed by crisp strikes and a decisive knee that forced the referee to step in within the first round.
But it wasn’t just the finish that made the moment so powerful; it was everything that led up to it. Fighting in Seattle, a city close to his roots, Gibson Jr. wasn’t just looking for a win; he was living out a dream he’d had for years.
The significance of the event struck him instantly, especially considering the eerie parallel to his father, Lance Gibson Sr., who earned his own UFC win in similar fashion over two decades ago. As reality set in, emotions took over.
Lance Gibson Jr. admitted to being awestruck while speaking with Daniel Cormier inside the Octagon, recalling how he once dreamed of performing on that stage.
“I’m at a loss for words,” Gibson Jr. told Daniel Cormier. “It’s alright, guys, I was born in West Seattle. I was born 10 mins from here, just so you know; you don’t have to boo me. This meant a lot to me. I’d sit outside of this arena and dream of being on a stage as big as this and accomplishing my dreams.
“I finished with a knee 26 years later, after my dad finished with a knee knockout.”
At UFC Seattle, the finish, the timing, and the legacy all collided in one moment—turning what could have been just another result into something far more personal.
