Merab Dvalishvili cemented his status as one of the most dominant forces in the bantamweight division with an incredible performance at UFC 311. Facing the undefeated Umar Nurmagomedov, Dvalishvili proved why he holds the title of bantamweight champion, delivering a masterclass in grit, endurance, and skill. Known as ‘The Machine,’ the Georgian fighter lived up to his nickname, overwhelming his opponent with non-stop pressure and an unmatched work rate. Even when Nurmagomedov showcased his striking and grappling prowess, Dvalishvili’s legendary cardio and resilience kept him ahead in the fight.

One of the most impressive aspects of Dvalishvili’s performance was his ability to adapt. Nurmagomedov, despite breaking his hand in the opening round, continued to demonstrate his technical skills and toughness. However, Dvalishvili’s sheer volume of strikes, takedown attempts, and octagon control made it nearly impossible for Nurmagomedov to find his rhythm. By the time the final bell rang, it was evident that Dvalishvili had done enough to secure the unanimous decision victory. However, according to Chael Sonnen, this was not the case. The former UFC fighter feels ‘Young Eagle’ won the third round.

He took to his Instagram account where he broke down the fight and said, “I thought Umar won the fight. When they announced Merab I thought there was gonna be a lot of boos I was alone. I thought they were gonna give Umar rounds 1, 2 and 3. I think anybody would’ve agreed that it comes down to round 3. 4 and 5 were very clear. 1 and 2 were very clear. Do you agree with that? I can’t come and tell you that Merab is the better fighter.” Talking about cardio there’s no one better than Dvalishvili. But how does he find that extra gear going into championship rounds?

Cory Sandhagen took to his Instagram account to share the secret behind it. He said, ” Merab’s conditioning, okay. I know the answer to it I’m almost certain that this is what it is. It’s that Merab, I think because of the nature of who he is the yelling that he does throughout the day, I think is what does it for him. Ok, so I think that has something to do with it alright.” Dvalishvili is now unbeaten in his last twelve fights and is on a role in the division. So who will he face next in the division? Daniel Cormier has the answer for you.

Speaking to Ben Askren on his YouTube channel, Cormier revealed that the next item on the list for the Georgian would be a rematch against Sean O’Malley. The conversation began when Askren wondered who’s left to face ‘The Machine,’ since he has faced and battered them all inside the Octagon. Given that Nurmagomedov recently broke his hand and Sandhagen is coming off a defeat, ‘DC’ shared that Dana White is looking to give O’Malley another opportunity. He said, “Well, I think he’s gonna fight Sean O’Malley next again.” Daniel Cormier further said, “So Merab is gonna fight Sean O’Malley next, according to Dana White.”
