Fans were surely all hyped, as seeing a man as big as Terry Crews actually prove his strength against an MMA fighter is something we all wanted to see. But what happened? Why did the much-awaited fight not materialize?
‘The Spider’ fight that never was
The anticipation for an Anderson Silva vs. Terry Crews boxing bout was as much about spectacle as it was about the unthinkable becoming a reality. Fans couldn’t stop thinking about how a Hollywood actor with an athletic build would do against one of the best MMA fighters of all time. But, despite the hype, Crews has since clarified to TMZ Sports that he never officially confirmed the fight.
The actor claimed that his posts calling out for a fight were more about attitude and excitement than an actual challenge. Crews explained that his video claiming to meet Silva in Brazil was misunderstood. “I never said that,” he said. “It was just the attitude. That’s all it was.” The speculation arose from his video in which he talked about training, as well as Anderson Silva’s posts featuring training clips and promotional pictures of Crews, which fans viewed as confirmation.
