Alex Pereira has made a name for himself by putting up a stoic face and demolishing his opponent inside the Octagon. The man literally shows no emotion when he steps inside the cage, but that’s not who ‘Poatan’ truly is. In fact, the former light heavyweight champion also has a funny bone, which he showcased during a phone call with fellow Brazilian fighter, Renato Moicano.

Fans may have seen many clips of Alex Pereira pranking his mentor, Glover Teixeira. But this time, the former champion turned his attention to Renato Moicano, as he called him up to talk about the recent interview the lightweight fighter took on the Overdogs Podcast, and he invited Pereira’s mentor. ‘Poatan’ did not seem happy with certain questions that Moicano asked Teixeira. But guess what? It was all in good fun.

Alex Pereira pranks Renato Moicano

In a video he shared on social media, Alex Pereira was seen calling Renato Moicano and getting straight to the point. “You know, you did the interview with Glover, and I thought you were messed up, you know. The questions you asked there,” he told the lightweight star. When Pereira mentioned his issues with the recent interview with his mentor, Moicano seemed perplexed. He responded, “Really?”

Alex Pereira would proceed to claim that after the interview Glover Teixeira had with Renato Moicano, things had changed, and their relationship had not been what it used to be. He said, “After this interview, Glover changed with me.” He wondered if that was Moicano’s intention all along. “You want to put us against each other?” The lightweight fighter tried to make sense of the situation and said, “No, no. I doubt it.” He even sounded genuinely concerned about Teixeira and Pereira getting into a scuffle. He further stated, “Does he hit you, or do you hit him in training? You have to respect the master.”

When Renato Moicano asked the former two-weight champion to respect his mentor, or his master, Alex Pereira appeared to indicate that he was a bit annoyed with his comment. “No, no. I’m a fighter, too. I’m also a master in this area. There are two masters,” he replied. Meanwhile, Moicano was still finding it hard to comprehend what went wrong in the interview, asking, “How can the guy change after an interview?”

Well, Alex Pereira wasn’t willing to continue the conversation on the phone. Instead, he wanted a face-to-face meeting with Renato Moicano. “It’s bulls–t, man… One day, I’ll find you here, man. You keep putting each other against each other. I don’t like these things, man,” he stated. Well, Moicano made sure to reveal that he had no issues with ‘Poatan’, as he also revealed to have had no ill feelings towards Pereira or his mentor. He said, “Well, okay, you have your opinion. I didn’t ask anything to embarrass you or Glover.”

As Alex Pereira was telling Renato Moicano about them meeting soon, which the lightweight fighter agreed to, the former two-weight champion finally dropped the whole facade. “I’m kidding, man. I’m with Glover here [chuckles]. I’m with my team here, man,” Pereira said as he shared a laugh with his team. While it was a harmless prank, Moicano did not seem too happy about that. “You wanna screw me over on Sunday?” he said.

Well, not all pranks don’t often go as planned. While this one from Alex Pereira seems pretty harmless, there was one prank that was played on him, which could have turned into a major medical situation. Let’s take a look at that front.

When ‘Poatan’ almost punched his son

Alex Pereira’s influence has been a pretty big factor in his sons’ lives, who are not only martial arts practitioners, just like their father, but also share the same kind of sense of humor the UFC star has. But one joke could have led one of his sons to a hospital. So, in 2023, Pereira’s son decided to welcome his father home, but with a prank.

Alex Pereira’s son had a mask on, as he wanted to jump-scare his father when he entered their home. Just as the UFC star made his entry, his son popped up from nowhere only to trigger Pereira’s natural response, which was to raise his hand to land a punch. Thankfully, Alex Pereira realized it was his son who was pranking him and stopped before he could land a punch.

“Damn, dude. That’s childish, dude. It’s not a joke. What are you doing? That’s bulls—t, man. You guys just scr-w around.” said a visibly annoyed ‘Poatan’, to his sons. In such a situation, ‘Poatan’ cannot be blamed for acting the way he did, since it could have been a burglar breaking into his house. Furthermore, what if Pereira didn’t hold back and actually hit him in the moment?

While this seems to be a light-hearted idea from his son, it could have turned into something worse. But when it comes to his prank on Renato Moicano, what do you have to say? Let us know your thoughts in the comments down below.
