The Georgians seem to be a tight-knit unit. Just like Merab Dvalishvili celebrated Ilia Topuria‘s successful featherweight title defense against Max Holloway, ‘The Machine’ was recently seen having a good time with middleweight star Roman Dolidze in Las Vegas. But surprisingly, 4-time NBA champion Shaquille O’Neal also found his way into the Georgian stars’ celebrations.
Marvin Vettori was pretty excited, as he couldn’t stop smiling during the media day ahead of UFC Vegas 104 while addressing his comeback after more than a year. Unfortunately, ‘The Italian Dream’ racked up another loss on the trot, with Roman Dolidze getting his revenge for the loss in their initial encounter. So, of course, it calls for a celebration, and he did that with his entourage, including Merab Dvalishvili, at a steak house called Texas de Brazil.
Co-incidentally, Shaquille O’Neal bumped into the Georgian UFC stars, and even posed for a picture with Merab Dvalishvili and Roman Dolidze, with the bantamweight champion sharing a message on social media. “Celebrating [Roman Dolidze]’s Big W. In Roman’s usual style, we will celebrate one of his big victories,” Dvalishvili wrote on Instagram. Replying in the comments, ‘The Caucasian’ wrote, “Power in Unity 🔥🇬🇪⚔️”.

It was not just all smiles and a night out with some good food because after meeting up with Shaquille O’Neal, Roman Dolidze and Merab Dvalishvili were even seen singing and dancing, as the middleweight star marked an important victory in his UFC run. Dolidze now wants a step up in competition and is gunning for a fight against Robert Whittaker or former 2-time champ, Israel Adesanya, and one can only imagine what the celebrations are going to be like if the beats any of these two legends.
However, his opponent Marvin Vettori isn’t done yet! The 31-year-old has yet to digest the fact that he lost last weekend, and is looking for a trilogy fight against Roman Dolidze. Here’s what he had to say.

Marvin Vettori calls for a rematch against Roman Dolidze
The first time Marvin Vettori fought Roman Dolidze, it was a three-round bout where he outstruck his opponent to seal a unanimous decision win. In a similar fashion, the Georgian star emerged victorious in the second one, but this time, it was a 5-round fight. So maybe the debate is settled as to who’s going up in the ranks. However, Vettori, while admitting that it doesn’t make sense, wants another scrap against Dolidze.

“I guess well need a trilogy,” Marvin Vettori tweeted. “The most nonsense trilogy I agree with you b—–ds lol. But at this point it has to happen.” ‘The Italian Dream’ has only won one of his last four fights. Not only have his performances been inconsistent, but Vettori’s also on the verge of slipping out of the top 10 in the middleweight rankings, given that he has already been pushed two places down to the 10th spot following his recent loss at UFC Vegas 104.

There is always the chance for Roman Doldize and Marvin Vettori to butt heads one more time, but it’s rare for Dana White and Co. to book immediate rematches, and that too, when there’s nothing much hanging in the balance, such as a title. It remains to be seen what the matchmaking team decides to do as we see what the future holds for the middleweight duo. Give us your thoughts in the comments down below.
