Former heavyweight champion of the world, Tyson Fury will be eyeing revenge next week as ‘The Gypsy King’ will clash against the current four-belt heavyweight champion in the modern era, Oleksandr Usyk. Their initial clash ended in the Briton’s defeat, as ‘The Cat’ not only claimed victory but also took Fury’s title, handing him the first loss of his boxing career. As revenge is on the cards for Fury, former UFC’s dual weight champion of the world, Conor McGregor appears to be excited about the clash.

With a record of 21 victories and zero losses, Oleksandr Usyk became the first four-belt heavyweight champion of the modern era on a historic night in the Saudi Arabian capital of Riyadh when he defeated ‘The Gypsy King’ in their first encounter and as the fight contract promised an immediate rematch, Usyk will be putting three of his titles on the line on December 21st at the Kingdom Arena. Interestingly, Conor McGregor has expressed his excitement for the heavyweight clash of the year.
The controversial former UFC two-division champion took to his Instagram handle to share a promotional video on the Usyk vs. Fury 2.0 on his story which Turki Alalshikh shared and captioned, “Very excited for this rematch for all the heavyweight marbles in the world! Let’s go! #RiyadhSeason.” McGregor might be going through a rough phase in his career but he’s not out of the picture in the world of combat sports. Regardless, as Usyk handed Fury his first-ever defeat, the combat sports community divided into two groups: those who supported the British fighter and those who supported the Ukrainian.

Amidst the tussle, a fan asked Conor McGregor about his thoughts on the initial match, to which the former dual-weight champion stated, “What a bout! What an absolute bout! I thought Usyk boxed incredibly. And Tyson is such a big formidable opponent.” With regard to the potential rematch between them, McGregor had four words: “Rematch would be interesting.”
In addition to that, ‘The Notorious’ further added, “I felt every shot Usyk threw hit the flesh, hit the body, hit the head, the crown, hit everything. Whereas Fury’s shots hit more guard. They hit the guard or there were slight blocks.” McGregor’s analysis is not something that came out of a vacuum as Usyk dominated Fury from the very first round in their initial clash. Conor McGregor hints at a comeback to the MMA world
Fairly recently, ‘The Notorious’ took to his social media handle to upload a BJJ training video alongside his sparring partner Lee Hammond, who is a black belt under coach John Kavanagh at SBG. The video sparked rumors about McGregor’s comeback rumors to the Octagon and When UFC CEO Dana White said, “He hasn’t been fighting herein, I don’t know how long. Well, if he does fight, it’ll be sometime next year.” The community was more or less sure about the comeback.
A day after that the former dual weight champion of the world took to his X handle to give a long explanation about his sparring video, “I have been training with Lee since he was a young teen and I was in my early twenties. I used to open John’s gym on a Sunday, on my own, and word got around the gym that I would do this, and Lee and his friend would be the only other two to show up. I would spar them back to back for hours. We still show up today.”
At the end of his post, McGregor wrote, “Training is going great out here guys, hoping for some good news to break, God willing! Thank you for the support.” While no official announcement has been made by the UFC or Conor McGregor regarding his return, there have been plenty of hints that keep fans on edge.
