The ATP Finals always bring the excitement – Eight of the best are battling for the prestigious Tennis Masters Cup in Turin, with 1,500 points at stake. Right now, the tournament is still in its round-robin phase, and Carlos Alcaraz is facing Taylor Fritz in their second group match. The World No. 1 and the American No. 1 fighting for a semifinal spot already makes for a thrilling scene, but one fan briefly stole the spotlight.

On Tuesday, in the middle of all the tension surrounding Alcaraz, the cameras caught an unexpected moment. A fan’s romantic proposal drew loud cheers from the crowd. The woman, visibly stunned, shook her head in disbelief before saying “yes,” and the couple embraced as fans erupted. Tennis TV captured the moment in a tweet with the caption: “I think I wanna marry you 🎶 A very special #NittoATPFinals proposal 🥹💍.” A rare scene that melted everyone’s hearts.

Meanwhile, Alcaraz and Fritz continued their battle point for point. They were deep in the second set after Taylor edged the first 7-6 against the Spaniard. Carlos kept pushing to break the American’s serve and gain control, aiming for his second win of the group stage. The proposal offered a light, heartwarming break amid the intensity. And it’s not the first time love has shared the court with tennis.

Earlier in 2025, another sweet proposal made headlines during the US Open in August. During Aryna Sabalenka’s third-round match against Leylah Fernandez, a fan proposed to his partner in the stands at Louis Armstrong Stadium. The moment flashed on the jumbotron as the crowd roared and the woman tearfully said yes. Sabalenka later called it a sweet moment during her match.

Coming back to the ATP Finals, the couple has been identified as Isidoro Shrem and his girlfriend, Susy Harari. They made the trip from Mexico City for their first taste of the Finals. The ATP website notes they’ve been together for four and a half years and rarely miss the Abierto Mexicano Telcel presentado por HSBC in Acapulco.

Isidoro’s proposal played out live on the centre court jumbotron, to the delight of everyone watching. “I was nervous before, and when it came to the moment I was extremely nervous,” he told ATPTour.com. “But everything turned out okay.” Susy added her side as well, saying, “[It was] an amazing experience. The tournament is really very nice and I wasn’t expecting [the proposal] at all. It was really a very breathtaking experience.”

The pair are devoted fans of Carlos Alcaraz, who added the perfect finish to their day. Just after their engagement, they watched the Spaniard rally past Taylor Fritz 6-7(2), 7-5, 6-3 in their Jimmy Connors Group battle, sealing a win that made their night even sweeter. While it’s heartwarming to see the fans make the most of their nights at tennis stadiums, sometimes players might just join in.

Doubles star proposes to his partner at the ATP Finals

The 29-year-old ATP pro, Henry Patten, is making it a week to remember. The Briton and his Finnish partner Harri Heliovaara qualified for the ATP Finals doubles field for the second straight year and kicked things off with a sharp 6-4, 6-4 win over Christian Harrison and Evan King on Monday night. But Patten’s biggest win came before the tournament even began as he proposed to his girlfriend, Ellie, over the weekend. Maybe the engagement glow really did help him shine at the Inalpi Arena.

Heliovaara, who runs a blog filled with updates and behind-the-scenes doubles gossip, couldn’t resist sharing the romantic twist. After recapping their match and match plans, he signed off with a surprise reveal. “And finally, some news from outside the field. Henry’s girlfriend arrived in Turin from America on Saturday to be part of the cheering crowd, and to everyone’s pleasant surprise, she got an engagement ring on her finger on Sunday morning. I promised to post a picture on my blog too, big congratulations Henry and Ellie!” wrote the world No. 4.

He even shared a photo of the newly engaged pair, smiling widely as Ellie showed off her ring. It’s the kind of wholesome moment tennis fans love to see, especially at the end of a long season.

And it seems Henry isn’t the only one wrapping up 2025 on a romantic note. World No. 48 Sebastian Korda also got engaged, popping the question to his longtime girlfriend Ivana Nedved after finishing his season with a semifinal run in Athens. Korda broke the news on Instagram Monday, posting photo booth snapshots with the caption, “Forever and then some,” along with a heart emoji.

Looks like the players are finally set to enjoy their short offseason. And it’s shaping up to be a time not just for rest, but for a little extra love too. What do you think?
