Sir Jackie Stewart himself was seated in his 1969 Matra, while Mark and Paul were in his 1971 and 1973 Tyrrell cars. Before the run even began, Sir Jackie Stewart showed that he was a gentleman first, when he presented his wife with a pink rose. His wife, Helen, suffers from dementia and his act of true love was certainly touching.

Stewart led the convoy in a celebration that marked the 50th anniversary of his maiden F1 world title, the first of three. It was also significant as Stewart had just turned 80-years old in June.

But without a doubt, a highlight of Friday’s action at Goodwood was a run up the hill by Sir Jackie onboard his 1969 championship winning Matra-Ford MS80 followed by sons Mark and Paul, entrusted with a pair of equally conquering Tyrrell-Fords.
