Number-one ranked atomweight MMA contender Stamp Fairtex knows her striking will play a significant role in her upcoming battle, but she also believes her ground game will be of equal importance. The former ONE Atomweight Muay Thai and ONE Kickboxing World Champion collide with Alyse “Lil’ Savage” Anderson at ONE Championship’s massive on-ground debut U.S. show, ONE Fight Night 10: Johnson vs. Moraes III, this Friday, May 5.

Given that her American foe is a ground-game specialist, Stamp has been honing her skills in that department over the last few months under the tutelage of an old mentor at the Fairtex Training Center in Pattaya, Thailand.

Stamp Fairtex upgraded her ground game massively

Overall, the three-sport superstar is happy with her development. And she says her coach is too. In an interview with ONE, Stamp shared, “I think my ground game has improved a lot. For this upcoming fight, I went training with my former coach, DJ Jackson, who hasn’t seen me for years.”

“Lil’ Savage” could well take her there, and many say she’ll have the advantage if the fight goes to the mats. But Stamp remains unfazed by these claims, as she accepts that there are certain realities she cannot change.

The former ONE Atomweight World Title challenger said, “I will not argue with her about this. She is right, because I’m a striker. But don’t forget that, in every fight, we have to stand first before hitting the ground.”

“I’m not someone who lets people take me down, throw, or knock me down easily. At least they have to eat a few shots before they can take me down to the ground. And I don’t think Alyse can take many of them.”
