

Swedish teenage sensation Smilla Sundell is already a World Champion at the tender age of 19, and she has recently linked up with another decorated athlete in the combat sports world. On Instagram, “The Hurricane” shared a photo of her with multiple-time boxing World Champion Tyson Fury at the Fairtex Training Center in Pattaya, Thailand.
“The Gypsy King” is one of the most decorated athletes in “the sweet science,” and he remains undefeated through 35 professional fights. Meanwhile, Sundell became the youngest World Champion in ONE history when she claimed the ONE Women’s Strawweight Muay Thai World Title at ONE 156 back in April 2022 – when she was just 17 years old. Of course, fans had a reason to be excited.

Tyson Fury and Smilla Sundell cross paths
While some of the comments may have been made in jest, Sundell is certainly deserving of praise. She last competed at ONE Fight Night 14 in September 2023, where she successfully defended her prestigious belt by knocking out atomweight Muay Thai queen Allycia Hellen Rodrigues in the third round of their matchup.

Sundell also won her kickboxing debut in the ONE Championship last May, defeating Serbia’s Milana Bjelogrlic at ONE Friday Fights 18 to make it clear that she has designs on two-sport supremacy. A potential rival that could stand in her way is actually quite familiar to her.

What lies in the future for Sundell?
Jackie Buntan will be looking for her third straight win in ONE Championship when she takes on Martine Michieletto in Muay Thai action. The Filipino-American striker has expressed her desire to chase kickboxing gold and avenge her loss to Sundell, and picking up an important win could put her one step closer to her goals.
