In a tweet, Helwani said: “Perhaps what I love most about DJ is he is hands down one of the greatest ever. And yet, here he is on a Sunday in Florida with very few people in attendance just challenging (and at times humbling) himself in new competitive ways, when he really has nothing to prove anymore. And he does it with little pomp, circumstance or drawing attention to himself.”

“Mighty Mouse’s” likely future in MMA

Johnson has hinted that he may hang up his MMA gloves soon and said that competing in grappling tournaments would be his goal for the rest of his career. With two golds in the sport already, it appears as if the multiple-time MMA World Champion has a bright future ahead.

The door is still open for him to compete in his bread and butter, however. With ONE Championship set to mount events in the United States towards the end of the year, it wouldn’t be surprising to see “Mighty Mouse” return to ONE Championship to headline another event in his home country.
