US Open Wrestling 2025 key rules

The U.S. Open Wrestling 2025 Championships, scheduled for April 23–27 in Las Vegas, will follow USA Wrestling’s official rules, which align with United World Wrestling (UWW) standards. These rules govern all Olympic disciplines—Men’s Freestyle, Women’s Freestyle, and Greco-Roman—across various age divisions.

Tournament Format: For all the formats, there will be a line bracket, double elimination, and a wrestle-back to 3rd place. The top 8 positions will be considered for placement.

Seeding: Seeding for all divisions will be based on the USA Wrestling Performance Index (PIN), which evaluates athletes based on consistent performance over time.

Eligibility: Participants must be U.S. citizens and eligible to obtain a U.S. passport. For World Team Trials, athletes must have completed USA sporting nationality with UWW prior to the event.

Injury Protocol: An injured athlete must notify the on-site Chief Medical Officer within one hour after the end of their first day of competition. For injuries or illnesses occurring outside of competition, the athlete must attend the second weigh-in; failure to do so will result in elimination and being ranked last without placement.
