Gable Steveson’s dominance on the mat has never been in question. Whether it was as a prized WWE NIL talent, a four-time Big Ten champion, a two-time NCAA champion, or an Olympic gold medalist, hasn’t he proven enough? Yet, somehow, even those accolades aren’t enough to silence the doubters. A particularly sought-after Big 10 commentator, is sticking to his usual “anything can happen” narrative heading into the NCAA Finals. But Christian Pyles, Content Director at FloSports, isn’t having any of it and he’s making sure everyone knows this is Gable’s time, and no one’s taking it from him.

Well, we all know the final showdown of the 2024-2025 NCAA Wrestling season is going down March 20-22, at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, PA. And let’s be honest — everyone’s already placing their bets. The three names people can’t stop talking about? Greg Kerkvliet, Gable Steveson, and Wyatt Hendrickson. Sure, they all bring something to the table, but let’s not pretend — none of them have a resume like Gable’s.

Greg’s got the 2024 NCAA title and a 2017 Cadet World Championship under his belt. Wyatt’s a two-time NCAA qualifier with plenty of fight. But Gable? Do we even need to go there? Well, Christian Pyles definitely has something to say about that.

Pyles, a well-known wrestling analyst, and unlike Big 10 commentator, Shane Sparks, isn’t buying into the upset hype surrounding Gable Steveson. He recently jumped on X and shared a video where he didn’t mince words, this is still the Gable Steveson show. “So many people are excited to see Gable’s final NCAA tournament. I’m certainly one of them,” he said. But Pyles didn’t stop there. He made it clear that Gable isn’t just another dominant wrestler, he’s in a league of his own. “We may never see another Gable Steveson step on the mat. He’s truly that special.”

Pyles backed it up with facts, pointing to Gable’s performance at the Big 10 Championships where he took on Greg Kerkvliet — an undefeated national champion and a force internationally. And yet, Pyles said it “wasn’t even competitive.” The opportunity for Greg to score was minimal yet the situation became more wild when Gable took the spotlight.

The NCAA tournament will bring what upcoming challenges? Pyles predicts that Gable Steveson will become scarier for his upcoming NCAA tournament appearance. He expressed his belief that Gable Steveson aims to win the tournament. Wyatt Hendrickson and Greg Kerkvliet present real challenges but Pyles refuses to consider anyone other than Gable Steveson. “Im just giving you my honest opinion I think it’s Gable and it’s Gable all the way.

The way Pyles stands firmly behind Gable Steveson makes total sense because this is his last NCAA competition. Despite all odds, Shane Sparks continues to advocate for the potential of unlikely upset victories. Does he believe any competitor could knock down Gable?

Gable Steveson misses out in Shane Sparks top-three

Professional commentator Shane Sparks revealed his top 3 selection picks during a recent interview with surprising results for wrestling fans who expected Gable Steveson to secure a position. All experts believe Gable Steveson would clinch the title yet Sparks followed a different path of prediction. His choices were: 1.  He awarded the silver medal at 197 pounds to Jacob Cardenas while praising his perfect season and his victories against Josh Barr and Stephen Buchanan who ranked first in the category.

Jacob Cardenas. You are my silver medalist,” Sparks declared. But here’s where things went sideways — Gable Steveson didn’t even cut. Despite Gable Steveson’s unmatched dominance, Sparks completely snubbed him, once again leaning toward his Penn State bias.

He even ranked Carter Starocci above Gable. As he puts it, “I never said Gable is not tough and gritty. It’s just not what comes to mind when I think of him….He makes it look easy.” This left fans scratching their heads and calling him out for the questionable choice. Well, with that take, it looks like Gable has one more thing to prove — and what better place than the NCAA finals to remind everyone who’s really on top?
