Kenton Brown, who has been a Master’s sprinter for about 15 years, had the edge throughout the race. He swiftly maintained his lead going into the curve, and came through in the final meters. No wonder Brown set the time of 29.70s, while the second-place finisher wasn’t even close. Dominec Stellato claimed silver with a time of 34.11s, followed by William Wilson, who claimed bronze in 36.32 seconds.

Looking at this performance, track and field fans couldn’t hold back their reactions on X. One wrote, “That was insane… 81 years old with that speed?”

Brown, who was once a practicing psychiatrist, is now just 0.55 seconds away from the age world record, which was set back in 2017. You’d be shocked to know that he started running professionally in 2009 in tennis shoes and with no training. But since then, his masters track and field resume has grown way wider.

The track and field star has already registered his name in the history books when he ran a 13.25 in the 100m M75 during the Lions Texas vs The World on October 3, 2020. Four years later, at the Nevada Senior Games, a then 80-year-old Brown secured the world record in the same distance, running in 14.21 seconds.

And looking at his latest record, the entire track and field community isn’t just impressed, they are blown away.

In pure shock, a track and field fan wrote, “Absolutely incredible! Hell of an athlete.” Meanwhile, another social media user echoed the same sentiment, “He’s faster than most 30-year-olds.”

For comparison, athletes in their peak form, like Noah Lyles and Letsile Tebogo have run the 200m in times like 19.70s and 19.46s at the Paris Olympics.

In fact, Brown’s feat was so insane that it even got recognition from multisport elite-level athlete Dr. Shawn Baker, who originally posted the social media video, stating, “This is absolutely inspiring! 81 years old, 29 sec 200m sprint!”

Brown’s start in Masters track came after his friend saw him sprint exceptionally well during a softball game and inspired him to enter the Texas Senior Games. And right in his first event, Brown started winning races.

Today, a young fan complimented him with a comment, “He deserves a sneaker commercial.” Well, younger track and field athletes who usually perform this well do receive sponsorships.

Another track and field fan in utter surprise, added a comment that read, “Moments like this remind us that the human body is far more capable than we often believe. Dedication, consistency, and passion can keep people moving and competing far longer than most expect.”
