April 4 – Grand Slam Track, Kingston: Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone lined up on the track for 400m hurdles. And she just blasted… She clocked a stunning 52.76 seconds and was ahead of Dalilah Muhammad by over 1.83 seconds. Next for her was the 400m, where, to no surprise, she once again dominated by clocking a time of 50.32 seconds. Result: she walked home with a hundred thousand dollars in her pocket. Now, with the Miami GST already concluding, how could the Paris Olympic gold medalist let it go without a record?
Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, with her dominant run, is yet to be defeated in the championship. The Olympian took to lane number 5 in the Ansin Sports Complex on May 4 to race in the 400 meters in the Miami Grand Slam Track. Visible from a distance in her classic yellow and black fit, the athlete slowly picked up speed and led in the race. With only 100 meters to go in the race, the Olympian took the lead, and “it’s going to be Sydney to take it,” announced the commentator as she ran through the ribbon. And her timing…
Well, she clocked a whopping 49.69 seconds, not her best but another one of her sub-50 runs. Owen Corbett took to X to announce her special feat. He wrote, “Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone has run the flat 400m 9 times in the last 3 years. 8 of those 9 have been sub-50.” She clocked a season best of 48.75 in 2024 and 48.74 in 2023. Clocking another sub-50 in 2025 has her fans saying, “I think it’s fair comment to say that Sydney McLaughlin Levrone is the best female sportsperson on the planet.” Not only that, with this win, she has become one of the four athletes to have won both the Slams and won $200K in total.

Anna Hall finished second with 51.68, and a 51.80 granted third position to Andrenette Knight. A day earlier, Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone once again stepped into her favorite, the 400m hurdles, and well, well, well, what do you expect? No brainer, she once again established her dominance. She marked a 52.07 on the clock while Knight finished second with a time of 54.08 seconds.

The current world record holder for 400mH has achieved some astonishing feats at the Grand Slam track. Being undefeated and winning $200k is no joke. And not only does this make her money, but it also brings a lot of smiles to her fans’ faces. What are they saying?

Fans can’t stop gushing over Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone’s achievement
X has gone into a full Sydney fan frenzy with fans expressing their admiration for her. Going all caps on X, one such fan tweeted, “SHOULD BE ILLEGAL TO BE REALLY FAST AND REALLY PRETTY SYDNEY MCLAUGHLIN-LEVRONE WHAT IN THE WORLD.” Well, McLaughlin’s 50.37 run in the Paris Olympics made her the fastest in the 400-meter hurdles.
What’s your perspective on:
Is Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone the greatest female athlete of our time, or is there someone better?
Have an interesting take?
Another fan also took to the social media platform to add, “It’s so easy to overlook just how fast Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone is because she consistently gets crazy times. The fact that she is jumping over hurdles and doing sub-50 is literally insane. I don’t ever want to be numb to these numbers!” Sydney McLaughlin Lerone has only run four races in 2025, all of which have been the ones at Grand Slam Track, where she is not only juggling between 400m hurdles and 400 meters but also winning them with astonishing times.
You have got to agree with this fan who said, “Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone is one of one.” Well, where is the lie? After all, she has lowered the world record six times in 400mH. It all began at the 2021 U.S. Olympic Trials when she clocked 51.90 seconds, followed by a 51.46-second finish at the Tokyo Olympics. In 2022, she further improved the record to 51.41 seconds at the U.S. Championships and then to 50.68 seconds at the World Championships.

Continuing her dominance, she clocked 50.68 seconds at the 2024 U.S. Olympic Trials and culminated with a staggering 50.37-second performance at the Paris Olympics. Fans continued showering their love with comments like, “Lmao she’s untouchable. Why aren’t there any male 400 hurdlers that can double like this??” While this fan might not find the men’s hurdles just as competitive, there is a lot of heat in there as well. But as for now, do you think that Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone will continue this dominance in the GST?
