The Olympic champion, Shericka Jackson is yet to decide her preferred distance to compete in for next year’s World Championships.

Jamaican sprinter, Shericka Jackson specialises in the 400 metres. However, she has recently started participating in shorter distances. Over the course of her professional career, she has bagged several medals in events such as the Rio Olympics, wherein she clinched a bronze medal. Additionally, she won a bronze medal each in the World Championship held in 2015 as well as 2019.
At the Tokyo Olympics 2020, she bagged a gold in the 4x100m relay. She also won two bronze medals in the 100m sprint and the 4x400m relay. While her versatility is incredible, it also poses a dilemma for the Jamaican sprinter.

Shericka’s dilemma
In the month of July, she performed remarkably in the 200m at the event held in Stockholm. Shericka is spoilt for choice as she feels she could compete in either of the 100m, 200m, and 400m events.
Talking about her participation at the Diamond league, Sherika Jackson said, “I still have a lot of love for 400 not that I stopped running the 400 I just took a break and the break was really really good for me so you know. We’ll have to decide that next season is the world champion so we’ll decide which event I’ll be able to run there.”

?Will Shericka Jackson give a tough battle to the rest in Lausanne?
Discussing the criteria for the Wanda Diamond League, the World Athletics Organisation said that the top six athletes of the women’s 100m Olympic final are going to compete against one another. Thompson-Herah and Jackson will face each other in the 100m at the Meeting de Paris on 28 August, where they will be competing against the world 200m champion, Dina Asher-Smith.
Whichever distance Shericka competes in, her aim will remain constant, the gold.
