Jordan Chiles is one of those gymnasts that the American fans always love to see on the big stage. After her Paris Olympics performance, she quickly captured the spot of being a favorite for LA 2028. However, when the LA Olyympics question popped up recently, the 24-year-old stopped short of a clear answer. Yet again.

Thanks to Paris 2024, Chiles has a team gold but is still without an individual Olympic medal. This makes the LA Olympics a perfect spot for her to chase that glory. However, recently, during an interview, as seen on the All Things Gymnastics Podcast on X, she clarified her immediate ambitions.
“Do I think about elite? Um, yeah, a lot of the time I feel like, you know, that’s a question that people are going to continue to ask me, is like, oh, is she going to come back? What’s 28 looking like? And I can say the biggest thing is 28 is always going to be in my mind. I think, you know, allowing myself to finish my senior year out and just enjoy this moment, then we’ll see what happens,” Chiles said.

Jordan Chiles further emphasized on the significant time gap before the LA Olympics, saying, “There’s a two-year, three-year time, like gap in between that anything is possible. But I think right now my brain is just focusing on my senior year. And we’ll see what happens after that.”

For now, Chiles’ focus lies on an immediate goal, which is to lead the UCLA Bruins to an NCAA championship. The Bruins, ranked number 9 entering week 3 of the NCAA season, are legitimate title contenders after finishing as national runners-up in 2025. Chiles also played a big part last year, as she became a three-time NCAA champion after her incredible performance in the uneven bars.

And now with the new NCAA season, the gymnast has already captivated the fans ranking second all-around as of week 3. However, when it comes to her elite gymnastics plan, this is not the first time that Chiles has steered clear of a firm answer on the LA 2028 question.

Jordan Chiles’ LA 2028 plans remain a mystery
Back in May 2025, even before she appeared on the reality show, “Dancing with the Stars,” Jordan Chiles spoke to Olympics.com about her LA plans. At the time, her answer was just as speculative as it is now.
Chiles didn’t rule out the LA possibilities, by saying, “It’s on my mind. It’s not completely out of my head. I still think about it.”

“It’s not a no and it’s not a yes. “I think my biggest thing is just taking it year by year, month by month and then we’re gonna see,” Chiles said.
Nearly a year has passed since then, yet Chiles’ stance hasn’t changed much. While the last Olympics did end on a controversial note for her with respect to her Floor Exercise Bronze medal, Chiles isn’t one to give up. Therefore, with her LA decision still open, it’ll be interesting to watch which side she gravitates.
