“I don’t use these at all. So it’s about time they get the spotlight,” Stephen Nedoroscik joked about getting his legs worked up on Dancing With the Stars last season. Sure, the Olympic bronze medalist was lighthearted in his assessment at the time but it highlighted a duality no one can ignore: While the pommel horse, Nedoroscik’s specialty, generally used one’s core and upper body, dancing would and did involve him heavily bringing his legs into play, which typically don’t receive the same workout in gymnastics.
At this time, it is worth noting that Nedoroscik last competed on the national stage at the 2024 Olympic Trials in Minneapolis, where he secured his golden ticket to be on the Paris Olympic team with a strong second-place finish on pommel horse. He went on to win bronze in Paris, helped bring the men’s national gymnastics team their first medal in 16 years, and became an overnight sensation. Shortly after, and for a while after that, it felt like he shifted gears for good—finished fourth on DWTS and later co-hosted its 2025 Live Tour in January. If you weren’t counting already, it has been nearly a year since he last competed on the mat. Add to it his year-long body conditioning that is now best positioned to dance, and it makes his absence that much worrying.
If we were to take the latest instance, the sense of uncertainty doubled, for the worse. On May 3, it was reported that Nedoroscik’s name remained absent from the list of gymnasts confirmed for the upcoming Senior Pan American Championships in June. The Team USA roster featured top gymnasts like Asher Hong, Brandon Dang, Taylor Burkhart, and more, but Nedoroscik couldn’t find a spot. This is despite him dropping a timely assurance for his fans back in March, where he said, “Don’t worry guys, I can still [do] gymnastics a little.” But for the eager fans itching to watch the national pommel horse champion back in action, the wait might be over soon!

On May 12, Stephen Nedoroscik, EVO Gymnastics, and the MAG Foundation USA floated a joint Instagram post announcing the gymnast’s return to his club for the 2025 season.“The “Pommel Horse Guy” is BACK at EVO! We’re excited to announce that two-time 2024 Olympic bronze medalist and Dancing With The Stars finalist, Stephen Nedoroscik, has renewed his contract and has officially resumed training at EVO Gymnastics! 💥We can’t wait to see him back in action later this year at the 2025 U.S. Championships! Let’s get it, Stephen!” the official announcement read.
And Nedoroscik’s words? “SO EXCITED TO REJOIN!” he posted on his story. This news comes after the gymnast shared an update about returning to pommel horse training about a week ago, a month after concluding the DWTS tour.
Nedoroscik took to Instagram to showcase the differences between his routines on the first and second days after returning to training. He wrote, “Wasn’t gonna post for the first day back because it was underwhelming and kinda buns BUT SECOND DAY BACK WAS INSANE 🔥,”
Well, the latest news means big things for USA Gymnastics, and it may have naturally aired a huge sense of relief among the Team USA fans. Despite missing the Pan Am Games, he is now getting on track for a bigger stage: the 2025 U.S. Championships!
Well, it only gets exciting from here, as Nedoroscik’s U.S. Championships record now has a shot at getting better. The former Penn State gymnast was the 2024 U.S. pommel horse champion. In fact, his four national pommel horse titles (2021-24) are tied for the most in the entire American gymnastics history.
