“The adrenaline was so strong,” said Jordan Chiles after her first experience of the spectacle that is Dancing With The Stars. But while Chiles was pleasantly surprised by how life outside of her natural habitat could be just as thrilling, her first week at the TV show didn’t turn out to be the high-scoring result she’s used to as an elite gymnast. However, as she concluded 4 weeks at DWTS, the UCLA star now has firm control over things. And she only assures that better things are en route.

After a sensational 24-point-hauling quickstep routine for Disney Night, Chiles and her DWTS partner, Ezra Sosa, were evidently elated. And with that, she seemed to once again confirm her love for performance arts. Now, as the team advances to Week 5 of the competition, Chiles promised to come up with more incredible things, capitalizing on the momentum.
In a YouTube upload from October 7 by Extra TV, the Olympian could be heard sharing her upcoming plans regarding DWTS. Dancing to Special Spice on Disney Night, Chiles earned 8 points from all three judges, and that’s making her fall head over heels for dancing. With that in mind, she believes that it’s that love for the art that will dictate her upcoming performances at the show. On being asked about the plans for Week 5’s Dedication Week, Jordan smilingly said, “I literally can just say one word. Passion. Passionate.”

“I feel like, you know, that’s something that really amplifies who I am and the person that I’m bringing on with me,” Chiles said further, but composed herself quickly to make sure she didn’t give away any spoilers about next week’s dance routine. But as much as she wanted to keep things hush-hush, Chiles’s confidence and aura are infectious, and she couldn’t help but hype up the fans for Week 5.

“It’s definitely going to be a remarkable dance, and just to show what it’s like to be a little girl, to have somebody by their side in the long run, and just enjoy the moments that they have together,” said Jordan, subtly highlighting that Dedication Night could be something huge. And why wouldn’t she be feeling extra zesty? Chiles and Sosa were the second-highest scoring team on Disney Night, and that’s not all!

Votes have been pouring in, and there were enough in numbers to ensure her safe passage into the next stage. That is indeed quite the improvement! Jordan and Ezra were tied for the second-lowest scores after the opening day of DWTS’ season 34. In Weeks 2 and 3, the team scored 22 and 24, respectively, showing for sure how they managed to make the judges turn believers in the span of weeks. “You turned anxiety into artistry,” lauded Judge Derek Hough, underscoring their growing fondness for watching Chiles make her mark beyond the realms of gymnastics.
But while Chiles continues to make flowers bloom on the dance floor, her fight elsewhere continues.

Jordan Chiles is looking to rekindle the battle with a familiar foe
The days after the 2024 Paris Olympics were tumultuous for Jordan, to say the least. The American won individual bronze in the women’s floor exercise. However, she was soon directed by the IOC to relinquish her medal, citing an inquiry timing delay, and hand over the same to Romania’s Ana Barbosu. The news justifiably came as a shock. While Chiles and Team USA scurried to find a solution to her trouble, the gymnastics world became divided on who to rally behind on the matter.
Amidst the turmoil, Chiles secluded herself and went off social media to focus on her mental health. Her family stood firm by her side, and her mother didn’t take the attacks flying at Jordan kindly. In a post on X, Gina Chiles took a dig at the haters, reminding everyone that her daughter’s accomplishments spoke for themselves, and petty sneers on her career couldn’t bog her down. With the Chiles family’s and her teammates’ support, Jordan soon returned to social media and revealed that she would return to UCLA to continue her NCAA career. But as she took time off from her Bruins duties for a stint with the DWTS, she will now have the chance to settle the score with her Romanian adversary.
Barbosu recently announced that she got accepted to Stanford University. Obviously, fans are gearing up for the imminent showdown between Chiles and Barbosu as the latter returns to her NCAA singlet. Do you think Chiles will be able to show her worth and finally put the whole Olympics debate to bed?
